My Text Link Ads Review

inLinks
One of the hottest income streams in the blogging world is Text Link Ads. Basically, it is exactly the way it sounds - you get paid for having text link ads on your site.

Simply go to the Text Link Ads website, and sign up to be a publisher. It can take a few days to get your approval ( or rejection! ) so be patient. You're approved based on your site, its content, and traffic. Once you receive your approval, you get to configure your ads to your liking. You can choose how many ads you'd like to display, and whether they'll appear on a single page on your site, or on the entire site. Be careful when you're choosing! These decisions will affect how much each link is worth. For example, if you decide to have 10 ads instead of 4, each ad will be worth less. You may have more potential overall, but less income per link.

Once you've made these decisions, you can customize the colors to match your site. Remember, you want your ads to blend in, not stick out. That merely creates an eyesore. After that, simply select your site's blogging platform, and follow the instructions. If you're a Wordpress user, there's a simply to install plugin available. A word of warning to Movable Type users - the script included is not reliable, and may cause problems. On my last remaining Movable Type blog, I have to add the links manually. On my Wordpress blogs, the process is completely automatic. You can, of course, request that you personally approve each link. I don't worry too much about is, as I check my site daily, so if something funny pops up I'll notice it quickly.

That's pretty much it. Once your script is installed, your site is listed on the Text Link Ads website. You'll get an email each time a link is sold, and your money can be deposited into your PayPal account. Whatever the link is sold for you split 50 / 50 with Text Link Ads.

Optimizing Tactics For Generating Website Traffic

By JD Reilly (c) 2008

Optimizing Tactics For Generating Website TrafficInternet marketing has been around for as long as there has been the internet. It really took off, though, once the World Wide Web caught fire in the late 1990's.

What many people new to internet marketing lose site of, or perhaps didn't know to begin with, is that internet marketing is based on the fundamental principles of marketing. It just so happens that internet marketers use those principles with a new medium, the web, to reach buyers.

The fundamental principle of marketing is - if you want to sell anything, you need prospective customers.

For many people, knowing how to generate massive amounts of traffic is the "missing link" to internet marketing.

Everyday there are lots of people who struggle to create websites and products, make them look pretty good and then... nothing. Everything was built and nobody showed up!

This is one of the biggest reasons people quit before they are successful.

It doesn't have to be that way. There is no exact strategy that is guaranteed to bring you millions of visitors everyday. However, there are proven techniques for generating huge amounts of traffic, some very quickly and some for free.

Higher traffíc increases the potential for sales and referral commissions. The goal is to boost search engine traffic because this means a wider audience and long-term profit from various sources like ads. That is why there is such a lot of innovation in the field of search engine optimization (SEO).

Long Tails and How They Help

One of the most recent techniques, and a very effective one at that, is the use of LONG TAIL keywords to direct search engine traffic to your website.

The term may sound intimidating, but all it refers to is a new marketing trend. In the past, a few major keywords were identified to pull traffic through search engines. In the new model, websites will be drawing their business from a large variety of low-volume search queries or phrases. So, it's goodbye to all those oft-used, clichéd keywords.

This brings about a paradigm shift in your strategy to identify keywords and phrases. Instead of opting for the most obvious keywords like 'Makíng money online', web marketers now have to identify several keyword phrases that attract streams of low volume traffic. The combined action of several streams of low-volume traffic will eventually add up to high revenue.

o identify Long Tails or multi-word search queries (for that is what they are), you have to pick out the actual phrases that visitors use to arrive at your website. These key phrases are more specific than general. They embody the specific information users are looking for. So, a phrase like "Top 5 SEO techniques to earn money online" will pull in more targeted traffíc than 'makíng money online'. Ultimately, such a strategy leads to an overall jump in web traffíc.

For example, 'Self-hypnosis' is a general keyword. The keyword phrases within this niche would be 'Self-hypnosis to lose weíght' or 'using self-hypnosis techniques to improve memory' or 'benefits of self-hypnosis for controlling anger'.

Methods to Identify Keyword Phrases

Use tracking programs: Certain automated programs generate a number of subject-specific keyword phrases. But you will still have to filter and select specific phrases from a long catalog of results. Further to this, you may have to run your selected phrases through a search volume analyzer, to zero in on the top phrases.

Keyword research tools: Tools like Google's Keywords Tool can help determine the popularity of keywords, thus enabling you to develop a wide variety of secondary keywords to improve web traffíc to your site. Stringing together these words should enable you to identify keyword phrases.

Search boxes: Using on-site search boxes will enable you to monitor specific keyword phrases your visitors are looking for. This way, you get direct feedback from your visitors. This is an amazing method you can use to learn more about the general public's search habits.

Check out your competition: Find out what phrases they are using. Search their meta tags, titles and headers. Here, all the work has been done for you. You only need to fine-tune the words and string them together to make phrases that will pull lots of search engine traffic. Keyword parsing tools help you analyze other websites.

Advantages

By using keyword phrases, you reap a number of benefits:

* High search-engine rankings: Competition will be weaker for the phrases you have identified so you can easily climb to the top of search engine rankings for your particular choice of phrase.

* Higher conversion rates: Since you are using the actual phrase your visitors are looking for, the website traffic you get is highly targeted. People who come to you in this manner are more likely to click the 'Buy Now' button than people who come in out of curiosity.

* Increased inflow: Since you will be using many keyword phrases, you will build up several streams of low-volume customers. These streams will improve your search engine traffic.

* Make more money: Your monetizing potential is high when you pull in search engine traffic because people who come to you are serious about your product, service or information. They are more likely to subscribe to your newsletter or RSS feeds.

Using Long Tails on your websites or Blogs will undoubtedly improve web traffíc to your site.

And of course, more traffíc is always good news!

Google AdSense heatmap of web pages

Where to should we place our adsense that could receive hi CTR

Most people will tell you to place Google AdSense ads at heatmap hot spots. Google offers the same advice on its support pages - Where should I place Google ads on my pages? It's claimed that putting AdSense ads on the areas that receive the highest visitor attention (the hot spots on a web page heatmap) will increase the clickthru rate (CTR). In this article we explore the truth behind this assertion with some tangible numbers that have come from my own experience.

Increase AdSense earnings by increasing clickthru rate (CTR)

We all want to increase our AdSense revenue. One way to do this is to increase the clickthru rate - other factors remaining constant, a two-fold increase in CTR will result in doubling of the earnings.

Before we delve deeper into whether the Google AdSense CTR increases once you place the ads at the heatmap hot spots, its good to take a moment off and consider whether this technique is indeed legitimate. I think this is not black hat as it's endorsed by Google itself. In fact, they provide a generalized web site heatmap. The AdSense support page mentions that advertisements placed near content rich sections or the web site navigation will perform well as the visitor's attention is focused on these areas. However, Google always recommends putting the user first when deciding on ad placement. Google has also suggested that blending AdSense ads on certain designs and layout might increase the CTR.

If we taken the two strategies together - placing AdSense ads on heatmap hot spots and blending them into the design - shouldn't this make your ad CTR go through the roof? This is what we shall find out.

Placing Google AdSense at heatmap hotspots and blending them increased earnings 7 fold

I'll, obviously, begin on a positive note. When I first implemented AdSense on this website, I used the 160x600 format and put it on the right column. The ads were blended. This used to get me a very low CTR. In fact, I read somewhere that ads eliciting few clicks (CTR less than 0.5%) are removed from the program. I knew I was doing something terribly wrong and this was evident when I checked out the generalized heatmap on Google AdSense support page. The right vertical column had little or negligible visitor attention. So, even though the ads were blended, the CTR was pathetic.

I then changed my strategy and put ads with the content as I had seen on so may other high content websites. The results were startling. The clickthru rate (CTR) increased by a factor of 7 and the earnings jumped five times.

So the Google AdSense heatmap did help me. It showed me where not to put the ads.

When Google AdSense heatmap did not help at all

Now to another experiment based on the Google heatmap. As mentioned in the Google support, ad units placed near the navigation get high clickthrus because the visitor eyes are focused on that area.

Honestly, I was not happy to do this. I believe that such AdSense ad placements would generate accidental clicks, which, was not something I wanted to do and, also, would lead to poor visitor experience - it would be akin to fooling the visitor into clicking on those ads.

So I put an ad unit at the top of the left navigation. The results over a period of one week that I ran that experiment - 0.001% clickthru! And to couple this, the ads weren't high paying.

Why did this ad placement fail miserably?

First, the heatmap displayed on Google AdSense support page is a general one - it's not specific to my web site layout and design. No doubts, most web sites layouts are similar, but, subtle differences in colors, layout and structure might give us different heatmaps. Thus, the information provided by this generalized heatmap might not be correct for my web site - some areas on my web pages may be getting a higher or lower visitor attention which I don't know.

This means we all need to create a heatmap for our web site. And with many companies offering this service, it's not difficult to do this. Note: You need to decide whether you want a heatmap of mouse click activity or eye tracking. In fact, it won't be a bad idea to compare the two.

So I went ahead and got the heatmaps created. Cool! The findings were even more startling.

The Google AdSense ads were indeed at the hottest spots. So why weren't the visitors clicking? And for this I turn back to Mr. Nielsen. In Fancy Formatting, Fancy Words... Ignored, he mentions that if important information is displayed in fancy formatting, it will be considered a promotion and ignored by the viewer. But my AdSense ads were blended. They didn't have any fancy formatting. My conclusion is that even though the ads were devoid of fancy formatting, they were ignored because they were interpreted as promotion - which they were!

A few more pointers: The AdSense program is very smart. Changing ad position might change the kind of ad being displayed and this is especially true if you use section targeting. Obviously, such modification might increase your earnings or otherwise and so you need to test and retest.

Heatmaps can complement data from AdSense channels and can yield interesting insights on where to place the ads and in which format./p>

Make Money With Squidoo - 3 Great Money Making Tips

by: Max Suther

Squidoo logo
Affiliate marketers are making a fortune with Squidoo. What, you haven't heard of Squidoo? I just found out about this site and I can't believe the golden opportunity it brings to the affiliate marketer. Here are 3 great tips to start making money with Squidoo.

Only Promote One Item per Profile

Squidoo offers affiliate marketers an easy interface to promote their products. The only problem is that some marketers are going overboard and creating Squidoo spam. You only want to promote one product for every user profiles on Squidoo. So if you have three products you want to promote then you will need three Squidoo user profiles. Only create 10 lenses per user profile to stay under the spam radar.

Use Keyword Tools

Finding the best keyword phrases to promote is a matter of supply and demand. You need to find out which phrases are in high demand but have little supply. There are many ways to do this. You can do this by going to overture and using the inventory tool to find the demand for a keyword phrase and then type the phrase into Google to find the supply. In order to get ranked high in Google and other search engines you need to promote a keyword phrase that has a high demand and low supply. There are also keyword tools that will automate this process, so after you get going on Squidoo you might want to invest in one of these tools. The tools will speed things up for you.

Add Extra Modules

Squidoo allows you to make money from their traffic. Not only can you promote your products but you can also promote eBay products and Amazon products that are related to your topic. You can even share in the Adsense revenue. Squidoo allows you to add several money making modules to every page you create.

The bottom line is that Squidoo is an untapped site for money making opportunist. You better jump on the site fast before all of the professional marketers claim the good keywords.

Google PageRank Algorithm & Tips to Increase PageRank

Google PageRank is a numeric value that shows how important a page is on the web. PageRank is Google's way of deciding a page's importance. It matters because it is one of the factors, which determines a page's ranking in the search results. In other words, PageRank is a "vote", by all the other pages on the Web, about how important a page is. A link to a page counts as a vote of support. If there's no link, there's no support. Thus, Google calculates a page's importance from the number of votes cast for it. Each vote is taken into account when a page's PageRank is calculated.

Method to calculate Google PageRank:

While calculating Google PageRank for a web page, all of its inbound links are taken into account. These are links from within the site (Internal Links) and links from outside the site (External Links). PageRank can be calculated using a simple iterative algorithm. PageRank algorithm is in fact elegantly simple and is calculated as follows:
PR (A) = (1-d) + d (PR (T1)/C (T1) + ... + PR (Tn)/C (Tn))
where

* PR (A) is the PageRank of page A,
* PR (Ti) is the PageRank of pages Ti which link to page A,
* C (Ti) is the number of outbound links on page Ti and
* d is a damping factor which can be set between 0 and 1

Importance of Google PageRank:

PageRank helps Google's crawl to give preference to the web page, which has got good PR ranking. In fact, PageRank drives Google's monthly crawl, so that sites with higher PageRank get crawled earlier, faster, and deeper than sites with low PageRank. For a large site with an average-to-low PageRank, this is a major obstacle. If your pages don't get crawled, they won't get indexed. If they don't get indexed in Google, people won't know about them. In short, PageRank is the soul and essence of Google, on both the all-important crawl and the all-important rankings.

Tips to Increase PageRank:

* PageRank (PR) is related to link popularity (i.e. other sites linking to yours), however it depends more on the quality of these links than merely the number. If you want to increase PageRank, concentrate on building link popularity.
* Google PageRank depends on internal and external links. Look at its algorithim, and you can see both inbound and oubound links are taken. Thus, you may want to increase PageRank by enhancing the number of inbound and oubound links.
* To increase the chance of getting healthy PageRanks for pages beneath the home page, make sure your site is linked together healthily. Link all secondary pages to the home page and to each other.
* If you have several articles, in different directories on a similar subject, link these together too to increase PageRank - Google will see them as relevant and rank accordingly.
* It is essential to exchange links with sites with a PageRank of 4 or more to increase your site's PageRank. Sites of all PR's are worthwhile and should be contacted, but those with 4+ will have a direct impact on your page ranking. If these sites have a subject relevant to your own, it will be even better.
* If you have good quality content, good layout and good design, you will have a far better chance of building reciprocal links to sites in the subject area related to yours. The content-rich sites over the past few years usually have a PageRank of 6 or more, due to their quality content and good links with other companies in a similar area of business.

Where should I place Google ads on my pages?

Tips on How to Setup you Google Adsense on you blog/webpages

Google Logo
The best placement for Google ads varies from page to page, depending on content. Here are a few questions to ask yourself when considering where to position your ads:
Ads placements

* What is the user trying to accomplish by visiting my site?
* What do they do when viewing a particular page?
* Where is their attention likely to be focused?
* How can I integrate ads into this area without getting in the users' way?
* How can I keep the page looking clean, uncluttered and inviting?

Certain locations tend to be more successful than others. This "heat map" illustrates these ideal placements on a sample page layout. The colors fade from dark orange (strongest performance) to light yellow (weakest performance). All other things being equal, ad placements above the fold tend to perform better than those below the fold. Ads placed near rich content and navigational aids usually do well because users are focused on those areas of a page.

While this heat map is useful as a positioning guideline, we strongly recommend putting your users first when deciding on ad placement. Think about their behavior on different pages, and what will be most useful and visible to them. You'll find that the most optimal ad position isn't always what you expect on certain pages.

For example, on pages where users are typically focused on reading an article, ads placed directly below the end of the editorial content tend to perform very well. It's almost as if users finish reading and ask themselves, "What can I do next?" Precisely targeted ads can answer that question for them.

Blogtimize - Optimize the ads on your blog

How to optimize your Google adsense on you Blogs

Google Adsense

When working with a blog, you're facing some interesting ad implementation challenges: a predetermined page format, highly targeted content, and regular visitors, among other things. To make the most of your readership and content, here are a few suggestions:

ads placement

Experiment with multiple ad formats and locations

In general, wider ad formats tend to be more reader-friendly. Placing an ad unit after the first post will likely catch your readers' attention. Take a look at our sample implementations to get some ideas. Also, consider placing a Skyscraper (120x600) or vertical link unit on the right side of your blog.

Offer readers more options with search and referrals

To make sure you're earning the most revenue possible with AdSense, go beyond just ads to use AdSense for search and referrals. You can increase your earnings, provide readers with valuable information, and take advantage of flexible formats.

Improve ad targeting

With section targeting, you can target an ad unit to a specific section of your blog, as well as block out irrelevant sections like navigational links. We recommend that only those familiar with HTML attempt to implement section targeting.

Tip for generating more traffic to your blog: If you're a Blogger user, activate this setting to notify Weblogs.com, a blog update notification service, whenever you have updated your blog. That means your blog will be included in various "recently updated" lists on the web as well as other blog-related services.

Getting Paid For Blogging and Blog Adverising and Advertise on Blogs

PayPerPost

PayPerPost (PPP) is a website which helps content creators such as bloggers, videographers, podcasters and photographers find advertisers willing to sponsor specific content. The advertisers create opportunities ("opps") that describe the content they are looking for (e.g. feedback, reviews, buzz, creative, video). The bloggers (sometimes referred to as "Posties") then choose opportunities in their area of interest.

Once the blogger has written a blog post or posted a video that matches the requirements, PPP then reviews the post against its requirements (e.g. topic, tone, length) and PPP terms of service (e.g. disclosure required, no adult content), and handles payment.
