L.A. Pinata District

Did you know that Los Angeles has a pinata district? The Pinata District is the perfect place to find colorful pinatas and other fun party supplies. This lens will give you information about the Pinata District and finding the perfect pinata.

Where to Find Pinatas in Los Angeles

Without a doubt, the Pinata District is the best place to find a colorful, affordable pinata for your next party. The Pinata District is located in downtown Los Angeles near Olympic and Central. Specifically, you will be looking for warehouses on the southern side of Olympic to the West. The colorful pinatas will probably be very easy to spot. The Pinata District is also a great place to find party supplies, especially Mexican-themed party supplies, such as agua fresca dispensers and tamale cookers.

What is a pinata?

Photo by Picasa User ZIH.Pinatas are a popular Latin tradition. They are hollow, colorful shapes which often resemble animals but can be custom made to represent almost anything. Pinatas are often made from papier mache. They are filled with candy or toys and hung from a tree or the ceiling. People playing with the pinata are blindfolded and spun in circles before being given a bat or stick and attempting to hit the pinata. For an added challenge, sometimes people will move the pinata up and down with a rope. Eventually the pinata bursts and the candy or other treats inside fall to the ground for people to enjoy.

Lovely! and ... would you know? isn't there some giant hall where plants and foods and all sorts of wholesale merchandise is sold in LA? What would that be called? Thanks lots!

Yes! There is a flower market (wholesale for florists but also open to the public) right by the fashion district. Also near there is Grand Central Market which is more of a foods market. This is all within the vicinity of downtown Los Angeles and a lot of fun to visit.
