They also celebrate other festivities right through the weekend, Friday night to Sunday night. Steel pan music concerts, steel pan practice where spectators can visit the pan yard to hear their music. Plus you'll find lots of great parties happening.

On the Saturday before Labor Day they celebrate Kiddies Carnival event, which is so beautiful! When you look at the children dressed up in their lovely costumes dancing to the music and having fun at this great festivity, you wouldn't want to miss attending this yearly festivity. They also celebrate the best kiddie carnival band of the year.

Panorama Steel pan Contest:

On Saturday evening they celebrate Panorama steel pan contest at the Brooklyn Museum yard where all the steel-pan players participate to play their music. This event draws a big crowd of spectators and some tourists visit just to listen to the steel pan music competition.

J'Ouvert Morning Parade:

On Monday morning at 3 am they celebrate the J'Ouvert parade with steel pan music, people playing mass and spectators looking on, or following their favorite band until 9 am.

West Indian Caribbean Day Parade Is An Important Day to Remember:

You'll see all the beautiful floats, with sexy costumes, people playing calypso music (Soca Music). About 2.5 million people participate in this celebration. Lots of spectators and tourists enjoy looking at the parade.

I love Labor Day because this is the time when people get a chance to make cultural outfits & jewelry to sell to the Caribbean spectators. Most of them like to wear their country outfits and jewelry.

This day brings people together to enjoy themselves, dance, jump up and have lots of fun!
