Lace Crafts -- Ideas for Using Lace

I used the edge of an old pillowcase (the pillowcase has threadbare but the lace at the edge was great) and sewed it to some old curtain fabric. The lace made a nice pocket to store other vintage items, like a peg clothespin and a tube of smelling salts.

Place the doily in the center

Lightly sprinkle powdered sugar
on top of the doily then

- Lace covered bangle
- These inexpensive plastic bracelets are wrapped in a strip of cut lace that is secured inside with a hot-glue gun.
- Sew a Doily on a Pillow
- Some doilies are so standout, they deserve prominent display. Hand-stitch one to the front of a store-bought cushion cover. For the drapery, stitch doilies of varying sizes along the hemline, building a pleasing pattern.
- Cover a Hanger in Lace
- To pretty up a simple wire hanger, drape it first with lace cut from a doily runner. Tug firmly downward to ensure the lace is taut, and then pin it in place along the hanger's base. Cut away any excess, leaving just enough to hand-stitch in place across the bottom.
- Doily Vase
- Tightly wrap a doily around a vase. Snip away any excess, then hand-stitch the doily securely in place to create a snug fit.
- Lace Doily Handbag
- Make it any size! For the lining, cut two fabric circles, about 3/4 inch smaller than the two doilies.

- Yes, I have crafted with lace a lot, I have a huge drawer full of vintage lace and linens, oh and buttons because I was really into it a year ago. I still love it all but have moved on to other things. I just love using up an old doily that no one wants anymore and creating something with it. Super lens, Blessed *
