Baby Shower Games

Ice Breakers and More

baby shower

Tips on Playing Games at a Baby Shower;

Start Shower with a Game;

Simple and fun games are great icebreakers, try to play a game early in the party to help everyone get to know each other. Schedule your game to start shortly after everyone arrives and before the food is served or gifts opened.

Tie Games to Party Theme

After you have decided on the baby shower theme, choose a game or two that will go well with the theme you have chosen. Also, choose games that are easy to play. If your guest get confused by the rules, they will not have fun.

Be Organized

Get all game materials together ahead of time. Find plenty of pencils or pens, make sure you have enough for each guests and a couple extra, just in case something breaks or doesn't work right. Put all of the baby shower game materials in a one place so that they are easy to get too.

Prizes! Prizes!

Everybody loves games but, everybody loves prizes more! You may decide on a game prize that fits with the baby shower theme. Prizes don't have to be extravagant gifts, just a little reminder for the winner of the great time she had at the baby shower party.

Take Lots of Pictures

Make sure to take lots of pictures during the game and party so that the mommy-to-be can create a scrapbook of memories from her baby shower. Find someone else to take the pictures so you can focus on your guests and the games.

Baby Shower Games

1) Don't say "Baby":

Materials needed:- baby safety pins or another type of baby object you can place on a string for each woman at the party, you'll need enough string for each woman to wear as a necklace.

Each woman will wear the necklace with the baby safety pins around her neck. The rules are simple; whenever someone says the word "baby" during the shower, any woman who catches the other person saying baby, calls it out gets a pin from the other woman who stated the word "baby". At the end of the baby shower, the woman with the most pins wins a prize.

2) How Many Baby Items Can You Name:

Materials needed:- pad of paper and pen for each woman.

Each woman should write down as many baby products as they can name (blanket, pacifier, bottle, etc) within 5 minutes. It will seem very easy in the beginning, but towards the last few minutes, the game gets really fun as women start racking their brains for more products :) Give a prize to the woman who gets the most baby products named!

3) Place The Baby On The Mommy:

Materials needed:- Cutouts of a baby with tape and blindfold.

This is the baby shower version of Pin The Tail on the Donkey.

Blindfold a guest and then give them a paper baby, which they will then approach the mom with and try to place the baby as close to mommy's tummy as possible. The one who gets closest to placing the paper baby on the pregnant tummy wins.

4) Finish the Baby Rhyme:

Materials needed:- baby rhyme game or a book containing nursery rhymes.

Have someone read out loud a part of the rhyme that needs to be finished by the other women. See how many Baby Shower Guests can finish the following Rhymes we all grew up with:

1) Hey diddle, diddle, the ____________ and the fiddle.

2) Rock-a-bye baby, on the __________________.

3) Baa, baa, black sheep, have you any _____________?

4) Rub-a-dub-dub, three men in a tub, and how do you think ____________ _____________ ____________?

5) Pat-a-cake, pat-a-cake, _________________ ________________!

6) Little Jack Horner, sat in a corner, eating his ______________ pie;

7) Mary had a little lamb, it's _____________ was white as snow.

8) Peter Piper picked a peck of ____________ _____________.

9) One, two, buckle my shoe, three four, _____________ the door.

10) Peter, Peter, pumpkin-eater, had a wife but couldn't ____________ her.

11) Mary, Mary, quite _____________, how does your garden grow?

12) Old Mother Hubbard, went to the _______________.

13) There was an old woman, who lived in a _______________.

14) Jack Sprat could eat no fat, his wife could eat no ___________.

15) Little Miss Muffet, sat on a tuffet, eating her ________________ and _______________.

Here are the answers below. Always a good idea to give the winner of each game a small gift for participating. Read the answers that people have put down out loud since you will have some very funny ones.

1) cat 2) treetop 3) wool 4) they got there 5) Baker's man
6) Christmas 7) fleece 8) pickled peppers 9) knock 10) shut
11) contrary 12) cupboard 13) shoe 14) lean 15) curds, whey

5) Baby Shower Gifts for All

GIFTS FOR ALL! This baby shower party game will provide gifts for all if everyone is paying attention. The hostess will need to have a timer and a collection of baby shower door prizes, items from the dollar store work really well. Wrap each item in tissue and place them in a basket. When it is time for the mother-to-be to open her presents, you will set the timer for a certain amount of time (try setting it for 5 minutes). When the timer goes off the guests will need to see which present the mother-to-be is opening. If it is their present, they get to pick a door prize from the basket. Then the timer is reset while the mother-to-be opens the remaining guests gifts and the game continues. So on and so on until all the presents are done. Try to make it so each person attending will receive a prize.

    I'll just leave a cuteness alert here! I particularly like what you did with the games. My favorite shower memory is the one the ladies from church had for me with my first baby. One of the ladies had been making a baby quilt but passed on before the shower, so her daughter finished it up in time...lots of love in that!
