Online Gaming Noob!

From time to time, as de mood strikes me, I'll be supplyin' my fait'ful online gaming noobs wit' tips, tactics, an' words o' orcish wisdom. Dese are lessons I've learned t'rough many years o' adventurin', questin', an' crackin' skulls. To get de ball rollin', I've scratched out a two-part trainin' document on de subject of PvP (dat stands for Player-vs-Player) combat. Yar! # 3 - Know Your Enemy

While it's most important to know what your class can do, you'll do better if you also know what your enemy can do. Like I said, each class has its strengt's an' weaknesses. If you know about de classes you'll be facin', you'll have a better idea of how to put de hurt on dem. Again, much o' dis kind o' knowledge will come from playin' your game. But if you spend some time readin' about de different classes in your game, you can learn a lot dat way, too.

# 4 - Weapons, Armor, an' Oder Gear

Dere's a rule in PvP dat goes like dis: If all else is equal, den de player wit' de best equipment is gonna win. So, you'll wanna get de best weapons, armor, an' oder gear you can. But, while de rule is true, it's only true when "all else is equal"! So, if you don't have de best equipment, but still want to crack some skulls, den you'll want to make sure you got de edge some oder way. Some o' dat I've already told you about (playin' de class you love, knowin' your class, an' knowin' your enemy), but dere are oder t'ings dat are just as important. Such as:

# 5 - Tactics, Strategy, an' Teamwork

Dere's all kinds of room in most online/PvP games for developin' tactics an' strategies dat will help you to compete an' to win. Some o' dem are common to most games (like makin' use of terrain, or takin' down enemy healers first), but oders will depend on what game you're playin' an' what enemy, or group o' enemies, you're up against. Experience is de best teacher, here, but you can also learn a lot from listenin' to players who've been in combat more dan you an' from readin'. Also, if your game allows for team-based PvP, den havin' a leader for your team, followin' her orders, an' carryin' out your role are crucial.

Well, noob, dat's about it for my general pointers on PvP. But before I go, dere's one oder t'ing I'd like to say. In fact, it might be de most important t'ing I've shared in dis whole trainin' document, an' I hope it's some'tin' you'll take away wit' you. Here it is:

Don't let nerves, fear of makin' mistakes, or fear of havin' your butt handed to you keep you from tryin' PvP. Even de most experienced PvPers sometimes get shaky hands an' sweaty pits when goin' up against oder players. Dey make mistakes. An' dey get killed. De point of PvP, just like de point of playin' games at all, is to have fun. So give it a try, noob!
