An Insider's Guide to the Lake District

Ranked #3,635 in Travel & Places, #112,063 overall

How to get the most from your Lake District visit.

I live in Grasmere , famous as the home of William Wordsworth, in the heart of England's Lake District National Park, and here I give you my Insider's guide to the Lake District.
No one knows and area like the local residents do- you know that yourself. Local residents have an insider's perspective, and can show a visitor quirky and fascinating insights into their local area.
There are hundreds of guides written about the Lake District. Wordsworth himself wrote a Guide to the Lakes published over 200 years ago in 1810. My guide to the Lakes is not so ambitious as Wordsworth's Guide to the Lakes!
My home, White Moss House was owned by Wordsworth, so I hope he would approve of the Whitemoss Guide to the Lake District.
Why not take an Insider's look at the Lake District- let me be your guide.
If you have any questions or if you would like any information, feel free to contact me via the Guestbook and I'll do my best to help.

William Wordsworth in the Lake District

The most famous English poet, William Wordsworth lived in the Lake District.

William Wordsworth owned my home, White Moss House, now an award winning 4 Star guest house. Wordsworth wrote his best poetry, at Dove Cottage Grasmere just half a mile from Whiote Moss House.
When he became famous, and made some money, he moved to Rydal Mount, just half a mile in the other direction from White Moss House in the pretty village of Rydal.
I've written lots about Wordsworth and the Lake District. Guests visit from all over the world to experience Wordsworth's Lake District, and to stay in a Wordsworth House.
I write a blog from my Wordsworth home most days , with news about the weather and everything . Here's The White Moss House Blog . Take a look and see what I'm doing today in the Lake District.

Let's start with William Wordsworth

My very first lens was this one about Wordsworth's Lake District.

These walks all start at White Moss. If you are not staying at White Moss House or Brockstone Cottage you can either park in the public car park ( it's quite expensive!) or get a bus- there is a bus stop right at White Moss House.
