Welcome to Lake Barkley, Kentucky!

Our goal is to share with you the joys of Lake Barkley living and to assist you in making your dreams come true.

Buyers Discover Kentucky's Lake Barkley

For many years, the recreational possibilities and the quality of life on and around Lake Barkley have been a closely guarded secret. Not so any more. It is now common to see license plates from Florida, Michigan, Illinois, and other surrounding states. In addition, buyers are flying in from California, Texas, New York, and all across the United States to purchase their dream property here before it becomes too late. Now that the area has been discovered, prices are escalating and prime waterfront property is going fast.

Why Lake Barkley?

Visitors and residents love Lake Barkley first of all because of the abundant recreational opportunities. The lake has over 1,000 miles of shoreline and is large enough that you often feel you have your own private lake on which to boat, water ski, fish, swim, and jet ski. Bordering the western edge of the lake is the Land Between the Lakes national recreation area where several million visitors come each year to enjoy all that nature has to offer.

For those who love fishing, Lake Barkley is famous for its crappie, bass, and catfish. Several fishing tournaments are held on the lake each year. Dedicated fishermen can boat and fish most days of the year.

One of the most appealing features is the moderate climate. On Lake Barkley, you are able to enjoy the four seasons yet you do not have to deal with nature's extremes. Many golfers play on a year round basis. Courses such as the newly opened Mineral Mounds Golf Course in Kuttawa feature several lakefront holes which enhance the great feeling of being outdoors.

Many come to the Lake Barkley area because of the quality of life. When you first arrive, you may wonder why nearly everyone you pass on the road waves at you - it's simple, they're friendly! There are no traffic jams. The only stress is self-inflicted. The schools are good and parents are not afraid to let their children go outside to play. Values are important and your neighbors help look after you.

The cost of living is low. Many of our buyers from out of state are able to sell their homes where they currently live, build or buy a nice home here, and retire with cash in their pockets.

Lake Barkley's location is great. We are generally within a day's drive of 70% of the United States. We have also found that when you have a home or vacation home on Lake Barkley, your kids and grandkids come to visit you more often. Life on the lake is so much fun that "if you build it, they will come".

We originally bought our first property here twelve years ago and built a vacation home. For years we drove 6 1/2 hours each way every other weekend just to get away from the stress, traffic, and madness in the "big city". It was a drive that proved its worth on a consistent basis over the years. We were able to come to the lake, recharge our batteries, and spend quality time with our kids and grandkids.

We have since retired and now live in The Springs Subdivision in Kuttawa, which we also own. The funny thing about retirement is that you often end up working harder than when you were working - but we think that's a good thing!

One of our daughters and her family have relocated to the area so that their children can be raised in a safe, nurturing environment. And boy, do they love the lake!

If you are looking for a great place to build a vacation or retirement home, you will definitely want to put Lake Barkley on you list of places to check out - but don't wait to long!

See you on the lake!

I'm in love with Lake Barkley! Daddy and my son would have loved the fishing, and me... well, I'm just a "water girl!" Great lens. Say, how did you get the photo rotation in the introduction? Love it!
