A Little Lake Champlain History

Lake Champlain is named for Samuel de Champlain a French explorer who came across the lake in 1609. Although local ports such as Plattsburgh NY and Burlington VT are rarely used today, at one time they were very important military and commercial ports. The Battle of Lake Champlain (also called the Battle of Plattsburgh) played an important role in the War of 1812, when it was the last area of the north that was invaded during that war.

Beautiful photos. I haven't been to Lake Champlain in a long time. When I was a kid, I bought a drum from Fort Ticonderoga. I thought my parents were going to bounce it off my head I was playing it so much - it must've drove them nuts. Excellent job, Squid Angel blessed!
