Lambertville Art Scene

This lens is all about the art scene in Lambertville New Jersey, a beautiful city on the Delaware River. It will include reviews of my favorite galleries, and any news about upcoming events, and some stories about some of the local artists.

The stained glass window was created by Karen and Geoff Caldwell, two of the resident artists at River Queen Artisans.

Newest Lambertville Art Gallery

River Queen Artisans Gallery

Allen Sassman sculpture called River Queen Artisans Gallery is the newest Lambertville, New Jersey Art Gallery, having opened just a few weeks ago. It joins a vibrant art scene that has been growing in Lambertville for many years. It is located on Church Street, which is currently undergoing a revival. (Long time residents of Lambertville say that 20 years ago, Church Street was THE place to be in Lambertville, but it became overshadowed by Bridge Street.)
River Queen Artisans gallery is in the old Union Firehouse at 8 Church Street.
The gallery is a co-op, founded by three of the artists whose work is available there, Jane Spencer Wesby, Jacqueline ter Kuile, and Allen Sassman.
Jane Spencer Wesby designs custom jewelry, specializing in semi-precious stones, freshwater pearls, and crystals. She uses them to create bracelets, necklaces and earrings.
Jacqueline ter Kuile is also a jeweler, she has lately been working with recycled materials to create fun and attractive jewelry.
Allen Sassman is a sculptor who assembles found objects into whimsical (and sometimes bizarre) sculptures.
There are currently items on exhibit from six other local artists: Ty Hodanish, a painter in the American Impressionist style; Bonnie Buellis, who paints in a photo realist style, but with a whimsical sense; and Kate Appel, who creates works on paper; Geoff Caldwell works with stained glass, and his wife Karen Caldwell works in fused glass; and a custom furniture maker, Chris Cosner.
All the artists featured in the gallery are local artists, and all the work is created by the artists.
Because of the co-op structure, the gallery takes a very low commission, so the prices are quite reasonable.
Many of the artists will design work to customer specifications.

I love the jewelry at River Queen Artisans, it's fun and gorgeous. There is a new jeweler in the gallery who isn't represented in the photos here, though. But there are some great photos here.
