Lancelot Link, Secret Chimp Classic Saturday Morning TV
Lancelot Link, Secret Chimp was a Saturday morning live action series that was shown on ABC from 1970 to 1972. Altogether there were only 17 different episodes and the second season consisted of reruns. During the first season of Lancelot Link, Secret Chimp the episodes ran for an hour and included some Warner Brothers cartoons. In the second season the Lancelot Link shows were aired without the cartoons and ran for only 30 minutes.
As a child I loved watching this hilarious TV show that featured chimps who talked and acted like real people. Even though I knew that the chimpanzees weren't really talking it still amazed me. It was fun to watch chimps driving cars, playing golf, eating in restaurants and behaving as though they were humans (almost). Naturally, the voice overs didn't quite match the chimps lip movements, but it was still fun.
I haven't seen Lancelot Link, except for recently on YouTube, since I was very small. I have often wondered why we don't see great shows like this on TV any more.

The Evolution Revolution
Lancelot Link and The All Chimp Band
The Evolution Revolution was an all Hippie Chimp band. The chimpanzees in the band were dressed in outlandish hippie wardrobes and even wore wigs. Lance Link played the guitar, Mata Hairi shook the tambourine and Blackie beat the drums, there was also a chimp on the keyboard, but as far as I know a name was never given for him.Steve Hoffman performed all the songs for The Evolution Revolution and he co-wrote many of them as well. ABC actually released an LP featuring The Evolution Revolution songs and a single for "Sha-La Love You". The sound style of the all chimp band was very similar to The Grass Roots and in fact the song "Sha-La Love You" had originally been meant for The Grass Roots.
Evidently, the purpose of The Evolution Revolution's songs was to send secret coded messages to A.P.E. agents.
