Is Esperanto a good idea?

Loading

Yes! It's a good idea to have a neutral, universal language so we can all communicate with each other.

crystalwriter says:

It's something I want to learn, because of its simple construction. I think it's a good idea since English has taken in so many words from other languages, and since it has words that break rules and rules that keep changing. I've heard that you can usually find someone who speaks Esperanto almost anywhere you can go.

Gwilym says:

Esperanto works! I learned it in my late teens, and I've used it in speech and writing in a dozen countries over recent years. As a planned auxiliary language, it is easier to learn and use than national tongues.

No. Most people speak English, so there's already a "universal language".

I'm so fortunate to have been raised bilingual French/English! I can also get by in Spanish and understand the other Romance languages like Italian, Romanian, and Portuguese. I have a smattering of Mandarin and German and I am presently learning Japanese. The more languages I am exposed to, the more the world makes sense!
