Landscape and Seascape Photography Tips - Long Exposures
Ok now how do you capture water movement? You need one of two things, either really low light or a really strong neutral density filter. When you're starting out its probably much easier to shot when the light is really low. Its best to get to your spot at least 30min before the sunrises. Setup your tripod because you certainly can't hand hold your camera for a long period of time without getting some sort of camera shake.Set your aperature onto a really high number like F22 and make sure your ISO is on either 50 or 100 if you can. Now focus on your main subject and if you are just starting out in the landscape and seascape photography game set your camera to AV mode which is aperature priority mode and then start taking your shots. Your shots make come out a little dark at first but that is okay. As you keep shooting the light will get stronger and you'll start to get the sort of shots that you are after. Again if its a sunset shot that you want then start taking photos around 20mins after the sun sets. You'll get the same sort of results.
So what are you waiting for? Get out there and get those awesome water shots! All the same principles apply for waterfalls as well.
