Choosing Lanyard Accessories
So you've decided to buy some lanyards for your company, organization or event. Now what? Now you have to choose what kind of lanyards you need. Choosing the color and material is fairly easy. It's pretty tough to mess up at this stage. The more important step is choosing the lanyards accessories.
Lanyard Rings
Perhaps the simplest of lanyard accessories, a lanyard ring is also one of the most common lanyard attachments. With lanyard split rings, you can attach nearly anything to your lanyards. Most people use this attachment to hold their keys though. The benefit of using this attachment is that items cannot easily fall off. Unfortunately that benefit could also be considered a safety hazzard. Lanyard Bulldog Clips
Another one of the most popular lanyard attachments is the bulldog clip. This metal clip can attach right onto a badge holder or even directly to an plastic id card. Lanyard bulldog clips are easy to use and are rather inexpensive. One drawback they have is that they are not very secure. You could bump a bulldog clip and your id card would fall off. Lanyard Trigger Hooks
Although trigger hooks are more commonly associated with dog leash attachments, they are becoming a popular lanyard accessory choice. Lanyard trigger hooks can clip onto virtually anything. They are easy to open, yet they keep attached items secure. This type of attachment is perfect if you need to frequently remove items that are attached to your lanyard. Lanyard Swivel Hooks
Sometimes it is necessary to have a lanyard attachment that can rotate. Lanyard swivel hooks solve this problem. They allow you to flip over your id card or badge holder. This is especially useful with double sided badge holders or credential wallets. Lanyard Pull-Apart Key Rings
If you use a lanyard to hold your keys, you should consider lanyard pull-apart key rings. They allow you to easily detach your keys when you need to unlock a door. You would look rather foolish trying to unlock a door with your keys still attached to your lanyard. The Gripper 30 Lanyard Attachment
With the Gripper 30 Lanyard Attachment you can attach a slot-free id card directly to a lanyard. Normally you would either have to use a badge holder or else punch a slot in the card. The Gripper's ingenius design keeps a firm grip on id cards. Lanyard Pen Holders
In some industries lanyards are used to keep a pen at hand at all times. For these people the lanyard pen holders were designed. It is essentially just a pen cap that attachs to a lanyard. Some pens come with their own built in neck cords, but for other pens you would need a lanyard pen holder. Lanyard Cell Phone Holders
Cell phones have become a major part of our lives. Lanyard cell phone holders give people the quick cell phone access that they require. Sometimes it just isn't convenient to dig in your pocket or purse to make a quick phone call. Interchangeable Lanyard Attachments
You don't necessarily have to choose just one lanyard attachment. If you are purchasing custom lanyards, you may want to keep reusing the same lanyards for a while. Dtach lanyard attachments allow you to quickly switch between different lanyard attachments. So you could use a bulldog clip when you wear your lanyard at a trade show and then a pen holder attachment while at the office. Lanyard Sliders, Crimps and Cord Locks
If your lanyard has too much slack, there are various lanyard accessories that could solve your problem. You could use metal crimps to permanently tighten your lanyard. If you want to be able to loosen it, look into a adjustable neck cord lock, a steel 'S' hook, a steel triangle ring or a plastic bead. You could also buy a lanyard with a slider already installed. Safety Break-Away Lanyards
In the wrong situation, wearing a lanyard could be very hazardous. In a factory, any loose clothing could get caught in machinery. Many other work places have such mechanical hazards where a lanyard could get caught. Break-away lanyards have a connector that automatically releases when a certain amount of force is applied. This type of lanyard is even used in some jails, so that inmates cannot use lanyards to choke guards or other inmates.
