What type computer should I buy, desktop or laptop?

It's time for me to invest in a new computer. We are a PC family with 3 desktop computers and 1 notebook computer. I've used a desktop PC for the past 15 years, I don't "need" the portability of a notebook but I guess it could be a bonus.

So the discussion around the house is "Should I buy another desktop computer or make the switch to a laptop?" What do you think?...do you use a laptop or desktop computer? Are you a former desktop user that has made the switch to a laptop?

I used desktop for most of my life and wasn't in to laptops until i finally bought one. now i could never go back. even if you think you dont need it to be portable, once you have it you will be happy

I find a laptop convenient since we travel a lot. When I'm home, we hook it up to a keyboard, mouse and screen, so it functions as a desktop.

I'm a fan of the desktop...stick with what you know.

Laptops are great if you are on the move but they never give the kind of power and performance you get from even your average desktop and when you are using gaming desktops you really see how much power they have and how great a processing all tasks you throw at them.

if you go with a laptop stay AWAY from Hp!!!!! if you buy one you will regret it they are the worst quality and worst customer service. Samsung, Toshiba, Acer and Asus are pretty good from my experience.
