Running A Household Without Running Yourself Out!

People often describe me as "Wonder Woman" or "Super Mom", when most days it's probably closer to "Crazy Woman" and "Super Tweaker". I already know what you're thinking. You're right, it's NOT as easy as it looks (and when has it LOOKED easy??? CCHHAAA!!!)

Even on my better days, when I have all the plates spinning and everything seems right with the world, all it takes is one kid in the wrong place at the wrong time, and things plummet off the precipice into total chaos.

So what's a Mom to do? Keep reading, and I'll share some of my best strategies for hanging on to sanity!

Elvis Presley - That's Alright, Mama !

When Life Gets Rough, Let The King Tell It Like It Is...

Elvis Presley That's All Right Mama

Elvis Presley Thats All Right, Mama Live Written by Arthur Crudup. Elvis recorded it July 5, 1954 at Sun Records-his first commercial recording there. It was the first Elvis record played on the radio. Dewey Phillips played it 14 times on his Red, Hot and Blue show and he received 47 telephone calls from listeners when it was played. Elvis interviewed on the program later that evening. The single did not chart nationally, but it reached #4 in Memphis. Fewer than 20,000 copies were sold. The flip side was Blue Moon of Kentucky. Elvis sang it on his Grand Ole Opry appearance on October 2, 1954 and during his many appearances on the Louisiana Hayride and while touring the south in 54-56. Elvis also sang it in That's The Way It Is in 1970. Elvis also sang it June 21, 1977 in Rapid City, South Dakota, which was used in the TV Special Elvis in Concert. The original version is available on 2nd to None, Artist of the Century, The Sun Sessions, Great Performances, and The King of Rock n Roll-The Complete 50s Masters, Well, that's all right, mama That's all right for you That's all right mama, just anyway you do Well, that's all right, that's all right. That's all right now mama, anyway you do Mama she done told me, Papa done told me too 'Son, that gal your foolin' with, She ain't no good for you' But, that's all right, that's all right. That's all right now mama, anyway you do I'm leaving town, baby I'm leaving town for sure Well, then you won't be bothered with Me hanging 'round your door Well, that's all right, that's all right. That's all right now mama, anyway you do

Did You Come From A Large Family?

You know I was thinking that 'living large' would make a great url for a lens. We have a coworker who is a really big guy with the biggest head -- he himself admits he needs to lose some weight -- but he is ALWAYS saying how he is living life LARGE!

I used to find it hard to delegate, but I discovered we should for multiple reasons. When you have older children and younger children, you can teach the older children responsibility and at the same time preserve your sanity by assigning a younger child to an older child while you make an important phone call, but don't forget to leave instructions and have the older sibling perform a specific task with the younger sibling, such as reading a story, teaching her to write or say ABC's, singing songs, or playing a game. (Be sure they know to avoid interrupting you unless it is an emergency and define an emergency.) It's also a good idea to delegate chores. Both younger and older can rotate between dish duty. clearing the table, taking out the trash, feeding the pets, sweeping or washing the porch, watering the garden, etc. The little ones will need supervision (another opportunity for delegation). When everyone has something to do, there is less time for bickering and boredom.

So multiply this by X children and it must be
"terrifying".
