Denny's Beer Barrel Pub in Clearfield, Pennsylvania is proud of its Main Event burger which costs $379, feeds up to 200 people, and takes 9 hours to prepare. The super-sized burger features an 80-pound beef patty, a 30-pound bun, 12 tomatoes and 160 slices of cheese. Denny's Beer Barrel Pub also throws on a pound each of lettuce, ketchup, mustard and mayo, stacks of pickles, and up to five onions. Special molds and stainless steel pans were created by TD Fabricating and Welding of Clearfield to accommodate the colossal-sized sandwich. The pans were designed to suit the behemoth burger's unique specifications and cost $500 to produce. People from all over the world have visited Denny's Beer Barrel Pub.

"Every weekend we have someone new coming through our door," says owner Denny Liegey. "We've had people from Hong Kong, Korea, Australia, England, Ireland and Germany." The restaurant is also a favorite of competitive eating groups like The United Eaters of Pennsylvania. "Denny's is sort of our Mecca," said member Dave Schoffner. "We come here every year."

When asked how many calories the world's largest hamburger contained, Mr. Liegey said he had no idea.

Denny's Beer Barrel Pub is a small restaurant and bar, opened in September 1977 and located in Clearfield, Pennsylvania. Its claim to fame is its large hamburgers. Owned by Denny Liegey Sr., the restaurant keeps expanding the size of their hamburgers to keep the record as having the biggest. It started with a 2-pound burger challenge, working up to its current record of a 123-pound burger. Fame started in earnest in 1996 with the creation of the "Ye Olde 96er" a 6-pound burger with about 5 pounds of toppings. Patrons take the challenge of trying to finish it in the allocated time. College student Kate Stelnick of Princeton, New Jersey, weighing 115 pounds was the first person to successfully finish the 6-pound version.

Wow! This restaurant would be worth visiting just to see the largest hamburger ever. For me, a tiny burger would be suffice. Your talking to someone who eats off the kids menu at McDonalds.
