LASIK Questions and Answers

Gt a LASIK question? My hope is to gather and provide many aspects of Lasik surgery and provide the pros and cons of this type of procedure.

What is LASIK?

OK, standard question :)

  • LASIK is Laser-Assisted Intrastromal Keratomileusis, aka "flap and zap." It is (possibly) a better way to do ALK. Instead of using a mechanical microkeratome to perform the keratectomy, an excimer laser is used to ablate the precise number of microns of tissue.

I think $1k per eye is reasonable if it includes at least 2 follow ups. With $495/eye I would think that you get rushed more.A reasonable price is what is charged by the best available surgeon. If that is $495 or $2,750 it makes little difference if it is a poor surgeon. BTW, there are GOOD surgeons who charge very low prices and there are BAD surgeons who charge quite a bit.
