Last Mango In Texas is a Great Light Read.

Need a nice, light read for a lazy day in the hammock or something that won't give you nightmares if you read it right before going to sleep? Last Mango in Texas is exactly that. I zipped through it in a single evening - it's only 247 pages, and the story moves quickly.

The protagonist is a young man from an eccentric family, and the story revolves around his life during his college years. It's a love story, an adventure story, and a mystery all rolled into one.

I didn't realize that this author is described as a Christian writer, I just thought it was a nice, clean read for a change. The writing is easy enough for a teen to read and understand, yet the story has enough twists and turns to entertain me and I haven't been a teen for over 30 years.

This book only came out in March of 2009, and would make a nice gift.

"Eccentric family, lots of surprises, this story moved quickly and kept me entertained."

This made me laugh:

Regina served tofu for dinner - on bird plates. [...] The owl [on my plate] was cool; the tofu tasted like a mix of potting soil and mulch.
