What is Fashion Jewelry and Definitions to Common Jargon

Fashion Jewelry got it's beginning from theatrical jewels pasted onto costumes, hence the term 'Costume Jewelry'. It has a wide range when it comes to quality, some are made with inexpensive components such as rhinestones, lucite, pewter, nickel, lead and brass. On the higher quality side, where Latasia Jewelry rests, manufacturers use high end crystals, simulated gemstones, cubic zirconia, simulated diamonds, lab created gem stones, semi precious stones, and wood. Gold, Silver and Rhodium are electroplated over brass and copper and some pieces are crafted from sterling silver.

Faceting: Small flat faces on gems of various shapes to refract light.

Faux: French for false, a term used to indicate imitation or synthetic components.

Hypo Allergenic: Materials used to manufacture earring posts to have the least chance of a reaction, Also known as surgical steel and titanium which is resistant to corrosion and a hard metal.
