Laundry Hampers - Clothes Hamper
Mostly referred to as just a hamper, Laundry hampers or clothes hampers, have been used in America, European countries and around the world for centuries.
Hamper: a large basket made from Wicker, Willow or Wood, used as a dirty clothes receptacle, usually with a cover.

What makes a hamper a hamper?The oldest know forms of hampers were hand woven from willow or other grasses and are commonly called Wicker. Hampers are also available in a variety of other materials including solid wood, plastic and even steel mesh screen. A hamper consist of any porous material that will allow for the free flow of air, generally have lids and may also have a fabric liner. The free flow design of these hampers has also been used to transport food, fruit and brought about the commonly known Picnic Basket.
Americans usually refer to these receptacles as clothes hampers or laundry hampers. Young children may refer to them as "The Clothes Monster"
