Great Reading: Mysteries with Girl Detectives! Laura Lippman Tops in This Genre
Years ago I began reading the Kinsey Millhone series by Sue Grafton.
Searching for similar books, I discovered V.I. Warshawski created by Sara Paretsky.
Then I found out that there are tons of female detectives out there in bookland!
One of my favorites girl detectives is Tess Monaghan who is created by Laura Lippman. In fact, I like Tess almost as much as Kinsey.
On this lens I give you the chance to write your own review(s) of Laura Lippman's fiction. Check for the titles you have read below, and voice your opinion(s).
I am a BabyBoomer. Recently, my 31 year old daughter (a mother of three) asked me for a book to read on vacation. I gave her the book In Big Trouble. She LOVED it! This series appeals to all ages! How about that?
Thanks for visiting! AND come back often when you have read another of Lippman's books.

I've been a fan of Sue Grafton's alphabet series starring Kinsey Millhone since "A is for Alibi" came out. I now own every one in the series and am waiting for the next. Kinsey is the most entertaining and interesting female detective in fiction -- I think Sue Grafton admits that Kinsey is her 'alter ego' - I'd like to be just like Kinsey myself!

I have to vote for Kensey - I've read every one of her books. She's witty, feisty, smart and very likeable. A great read.

- Tess is good. I'm not a huge fan of Kinsey. For historic mysteries you can't beat Mary Russell, the character in the books by Laurie R. King. Interesting lens.

- I love mysteries and have quite a few favorite female 'authors', but Kinsey Millhone in Sue Grafton's Alphabet series is my very favorite fictional female 'detective' (because she doesn't seem to be fictional - she's so real). I've not read any Tess Mongahan books yet - will have to get some and report back later :-).
