Here is the truth about common hair myths.

Cutting your hair often does not make your hair grow faster. It does cut off any damaged ends, making your hair look better if you do frequent trims. But no, it does not grow faster.

Coloring cannot change your hair's texture. It may for a very short while, but your hair will quickly go back to what is normal for you.

Brushing your hair 100 times before going to bed may do damage. You can overbrush. You do not want to do this.

Your shampoo does need to be alternated with a clarifier. A shampoo that will get rid of all the old residue. This is what really makes your hair not respond to our same old same old shampoo. If you have a favorite, keep it. Just use a shampoo every now and then that will thoroughly clean your hair and not leave any residue. Then your favorite shampoo will work just fine.

Massaging your scalp does not make your hair grow. Sorry. It feels good, but that's it.

Cold water can help flatten your hair. Flattened hair may look shinier. You can make your hair stay flat by applying a conditioner. Use your hands and actually flatten your hair.

You may indeed get a bald spot by tying your pony tail too tight. Loosen up!
