Love it! Just starting to grow lavender & planning to make lavender tea and bath products but found out some new stuff here. Lavender in pesto? Love pesto (and I'm growing basil too) so I'll have to try it!

I have had lavender in my garden in the past. Now we have an NZ native garden so my husband doesn't see lavender fitting in. Might grow it in a tub perhaps! I've never cooked with lavender

I planted a Lavendar plant last year and have yet figured out how to use it for myself. I know that lavendar is theraputic and now know a few things I can do with my fresh lavendar. Well done lens, I think it covers just about everything about lavendar.

The scent of lavender is so calming and soothing. I planted a whole bunch of lavender in my garden. Thanks for the recipes which I need to try out sometime.
  • KimGiancaterino Jul 7, 2011 @ 6:30 pm | delete
Beautiful lens! I love to use lavender oil. My mom gets it from Nick Sciabica & Sons in Modesto, California. They've been making it since 1936. We grow some lavender in our garden and our next-door neighbor just planted a bunch too!
  • BarbRad Jul 7, 2011 @ 1:22 pm | delete
Our local lavender festival is this weekend, and I'm hoping to have time to drop by. I spent the whole day there last year. I grow lavender, but rarely use it except to just look lovely in the herb garden. I should use it, if only to tuck some under my pillow.
  • puerdycat Jun 10, 2011 @ 8:34 am | delete
My house is scented with lavender! I posted a link to your lens on Amplify.com.
  • KathrynDarden Jun 1, 2011 @ 8:57 pm | delete
Thanks for all the info on lavender. I always have some growing. One plant lived for more than 10 years, but sadly I lost it last year and had to start a new one this year. Now I know of even more ways to use it!
  • ElizabethJeanAllen May 11, 2011 @ 5:48 pm | delete
I love the smell of lavender. I use it in my bath but I never thought to use it for cleaning
  • marciag May 11, 2011 @ 3:03 pm | delete
I love lavender! I use it in my baths. What I do is get a good spoon of dried lavender (have all sorts of dried herbs at home) and boil it as when making a tee. Then simply pour that lavender water in the bath for a great aroma in the bathroom while soaking with a good book (just make sure to have a strainer, you don't want your water to be full of lavender pieces!). It's simply heavenly!

  • MaxReily Mar 28, 2011 @ 7:17 pm | delete
I love lavender. I had a little lavender garden where I used to live, but I can't find a place to grow it in my present home. There's a lady with a lavender stall at our local farmers' market who has so many ways to use lavender. She sells lavender lemonade at her stall. Delicious! This is a lovely lens. The Purple Star certainly is appropriate!

Very interesting lens! I've seen lavender used in a lot of desserts and ice creams and was so intrigued by it. Your lens gives me a better idea of how it can be used!
  • JoyfulPamela Oct 16, 2010 @ 3:27 pm | delete
Lavender is such a beautiful plant. It is one of my favorites - maybe it is the scent or maybe because it is also my favorite color! I wasn't aware of all the things one could do with it, so thanks for teaching me. : )
  • SelfAndSource Oct 12, 2010 @ 5:19 am | delete
Thank You! Is it possible to "be in love with Lavender"? I've cooked with lavender and love it. Thanks for the recipes. When I go to my massage therapist I always take my ceremonial made Lavender for the therapist to add to the lotion. Love it. If I come across a bottle of lavender oil that is not pure, my nose lets me know it. It just smells artificial.
  • Intuitive Oct 11, 2010 @ 3:24 pm | delete
I was amazed to see lavender farms on a recent visit to the Olympic Peninsula west of Seattle. I even saw a lavender latte! I have a couple plants of my own. Lovely lavender lens!

Awwwww lavender, what a wonderful lens with so much information about a very versitile flower, I felt relaxed just reading it! A friend sent me some dried lavender from france, and I put it in my pillow. I've never tried cooking with it though, Always something new to learn! - Kathy

Beautiful and fascinating lens. By the way, I live in Japan, and of course everyone knows about the cherry blossoms we have here, but the lavender fields on the northern island of Hokkaido are also a popular destination for domestic tourists. You can find out more about it if you visit my lens "Best Books on Japan" and follow the JapaniCan.com (Japan Travel Bureau's English site) link at the bottom and then just enter "lavender" in the search engine.
