Law of Attraction For Kids

The Law Of Attraction is everywhere these days and all sorts of people are talking about the movie The Secret.  Most of the time the Law of Attraction (LOA) is mentioned in conjunction with money, but of course LOA is about so much more than just money or wealth.

As adults, understanding the Law of Attraction can help us gain the life we'd like to have.  However it takes time and effort to learn everything you need to change your life, especially as knowing how to get rid of limiting beliefs and self-doubt is such a big part of making the LOA work.

Limiting beliefs and self-doubts are part of the belief system we develop during childhood, often prior to the age of 6, and they can sabotage whatever efforts we might make toward achieving the life of our dreams.  Our belief systems are subconscious and so deeply engrained by the time we reach adulthood, that they are very hard to change.  If we hold strong negative beliefs, it is much more difficult to integrate into our daily lives the concepts of the Law of Attraction and to take on the self-improvement skills needed to make it work for us.

What if, instead of starting our spiritual quest and self-improvement journey at say age 30-60, our children got their start in living with the Law of Attraction much earlier - somewhere between the ages of 2-10?

Because of the way the drain develops, a window of opportunity exists for our children to see themselves and the world around them very differently.  Early in their lives, their belief systems could be organised around positive views of themselves and their world.  They could learn early on about the power of their minds, how to decide what they really wanted, and that the world is one of abundance rather than scarcity - there is enough for everyone.  They could learn the principle of cause and effect and thereby feed their mind with positive rather than negative pictures, words and music, all of which colour their lives.

The problem as I see it, is that since we adults often don't know the Law of Attraction concepts and skills well enough to help ourselves, we definitely need help in giving our children this kind of head start.

Help is at hand in the form of a wonderful book called Discovery: A Young Person's Guide to Growing Up Today by Isabelle Sennery, www.isabelle-sennery.com.au.  Ms Sennery has done a brilliant job in describing how the Universe works, the way in which the brain, mind and thoughts work and their differences, how the conscious and the subconscious mind function, and the power of your thoughts and words.

She has laid it out in an easily understandable format and takes you into the realm of how to discover what you really want, how to imagine and visualise your desires and how to deal with the destructive forces, both inside and outside ourselves that you might encounter.

All in all this is one of the best books for learning about the Universe, our part in it and how to live our lives by our own design, instead of by default, for children and their parents.

For this lens, we would like to offer several other resources that can make a significant difference in your children's (and your) lives both now and in the future.

One of the resources is the website www.kidscandoanything.com which involves character building and how we, as parents, can actively encourage happiness in our children - not as some sort of ephemeral fairy tale but as a state of being that can be developed and practiced.

By a state of being that can be practiced, I mean activities that you can do with your children that, as they say on the website, "activities you can start with your child today that will help you both create the life you want and deserve".  Through some of these exercises you build a whole new concept of what you and your children deserve.

Simply put, the activities include building a list of words describing moral strengths such as compassion, helpful, sharing, loving, caring, funny, etc. and then talking about times when your child displayed these moral strengths, how those events made them feel and how they might have affected others in a positive way, then entering those events and feelings into a journal entitled "Amazing Me".   Whenever your child feels less than positive about him or herself, they can read the journal and remember who they really are.  Wouldn't it have been great to have your self-image bolstered in that way when you were young?

Another exercise that has proven to be very powerful in creating lasting positive emotions, is to have parent and child together, write and deliver a personal thank you letter to someone in their/your life to whom you/they feel grateful for them being in your lives.  Yes, both parent and child can write such thank you letters to each other.

A third part of this program is to make a commitment that, either together or each separately, you'll reach out to help someone every week.  The person who is helped can be a friend, a neighbour or someone you don't know.  There are so many opportunities to volunteer or be involved in a fundraiser.  Discuss ideas with your kids about how you can help people in your community and get involved.  Think about what a wonderful opportunity this is for character building, showing your child how fortunate they are and giving real meaning to life.  Christmas can be a wonderful starting point - so many people talk about how money and presents have stolen the meaning of Christmas, find ways with your children to put new meaning for themselves into it!

Building your life by design starts with setting your intentions and you can start with simple things like how will your day go.  At breakfast or while dressing, discuss with your child what sort of day they WANT to have and have them describe exactly what will happen during this day they want to have.  Be sure to leave out the words I don't want or I hope not.

Lastly, involve all the family in building a vision board or think big board.  Cut out pictures of places each might want to go, what they want to see, do, be, have and pin the pictures or words onto a big cork board.  This is a wonderful way to encourage everyone to think big about what they want life to contain, making it all more than just wishful thinking.  This can be a fun family affair that builds the belief that all things are possible.  We can really accomplish so much more if we think 'outside the box' - boxes are usually very small and don't let much in, so build into your family life the optimistic idea that everything is possible!

We love our children and hope for the best for them and here is a way to help them make the best happen to them and think about what you all will learn along the way.  We teach children to read and write but we don't teach them how to find their purpose or passion in life.  As adults we already know that money isn't everything and often doesn't make us happy so why not help your children discover early in their lives what they can do that will light their fire?!

The Law of Attraction is about living the life you want, filled with self-esteem, passion, fun and money.  Help your children to learn the lessons early so that they can have what they need to know how to make it all come true.

I believe that kids need to learn about the power of positive thinking, visualization, affirmations, and Personal Power - as soon as they are able to comprehend it. How else can they fight off all the negativity that is otherwise thrown at them? It should be taught in schools - remember Lou Tice and his "Pathways to Excellence" program for High schools - EXCELLENT course!
Great lens- hope it does really well for you.
