The Law of One Quotes

Ranked #5,283 in Culture & Society, #109,474 overall

Though we see a world of change and contrast all about, it's one of the ancient esoteric insights that all is One.

That is: everything is intimately connected, from Divine to mortal. From heaven to earth. From black to white.

One of the ways in which theosophists have talked about this is using the simile of light being diffracted by a prism. Though all the colors are there, they are hidden in the white light normally. The prism shows them. Creation is like that too, but in reverse. We see the various colors, not realizing their ultimate unity.

Modern science would put it differently: light, matter - it's all different frequencies of energy. One substance, various manifestations.

On this page I share the basic historical sources of the idea of Oneness at the basis of all diversity. From the Hindu Brahman, the Hermetic Axiom, to H.P. Blavatsky and the latest manifestation: The Law of One as Ra channeling.

One more thing: The Law of Ultimate Unity is also the scientific basis for a peaceful world. Only when we realize that all people are of One blood, One heart, One mind - can peace come to humanity.

The Unity of Brahman

Advaita Vedanta, Sri Shankara Charya, 9th century CE

That is real which is unaffected at all times. Such are the unembodied things like life, space, ether. Even these ultimately resolve themselves into Brahman; hence is Brahman the reality of the real. There is naught else which excels it in its transcendentality or its infinitude; therefore is it termed the reality of the real. The lower that is conditioned by embodied and unembodied things is alled satya, because it is both sat and tyat. Of this too, Brahman is the reality.

One Life and One Law

The Hermetic Axiiom, first or second century A.D.

As is the Inner, so is the Outer;
as is the Great so is the Small;
as it is above, so it is below;
there is but One Life and Law;
and he that worketh it is ONE.
Nothing is Inner, nothing is Outer;
nothing is Great, nothing is Small;
nothing is High, nothing is Low, in the Divine Economy.

The Great Hermetic Axiom, as quoted in The Secret Doctrine and it's Study, H.P. Blavatsky and Bowen.

Blavatsky on The Law of One

Secret Doctrine, volume I, p. 13-18 PROEM

An Omnipresent, Eternal, Boundless, and Immutable PRINCIPLE on which all speculation is impossible, since it transcends the power of human conception and could only be dwarfed by any human expression or similitude. It is beyond the range and reach of thought -- in the words of Mandukya, "unthinkable and unspeakable."

To render these ideas clearer to the general reader, let him set out with the postulate that there is one absolute Reality which antecedes all manifested, conditioned, being. This Infinite and Eternal Cause -- dimly formulated in the "Unconscious" and "Unknowable" of current European philosophy -- is the rootless root of "all that was, is, or ever shall be." It is of course devoid of all attributes and is essentially without any relation to manifested, finite Being. It is "Be-ness" rather than Being (in Sanskrit, Sat), and is beyond all thought or speculation.

This "Be-ness" is symbolised in the Secret Doctrine under two aspects. On the one hand, absolute abstract Space, representing bare subjectivity, the one thing which no human mind can either exclude from any conception, or conceive of by itself. On the other, absolute Abstract Motion representing Unconditioned Consciousness. Even our Western thinkers have shown that Consciousness is inconceivable to us apart from change, and motion best symbolises change, its essential characteristic. This latter aspect of the one Reality, is also symbolised by the term "The Great Breath," a symbol sufficiently graphic to need no further elucidation. Thus, then, the first fundamental axiom of the Secret Doctrine is this metaphysical One Absolute -- BE-NESS -- Symbolised by finite intelligence as the theological Trinity.

The Law of One books

The Law of One books were channeled by Carla Rueckert, Don Elkins, and Jim McCarty between 1981 and 1984.

That which is infinite cannot be many, for many-ness is a finite concept. To have infinity you must identify or define that infinity as unity; otherwise, the term does not have any referent or meaning. In an Infinite Creator there is only unity. You have seen simple examples of unity. You have seen the prism which shows all colors stemming from the sunlight. This is a simplistic example of unity.

In truth there is no right or wrong. There is no polarity for all will be, as you would say, reconciled at some point in your dance through the mind/body/spirit complex which you amuse yourself by distorting in various ways at this time. This distortion is not in any case necessary. It is chosen by each of you as an alternative to understanding the complete unity of thought which binds all things. You are not speaking of similar or somewhat like entities or things. You are every thing, every being, every emotion, every event, every situation. You are unity. You are infinity. You are love/light, light/love. You are. This is the Law of One.

Session 1 of the Law of One January 15, 1981, channeling Ra.

So, do you agree? Is all One in the end?

Do you believe in the Unity of All Life?

One way of looking at this topic is to see the Divine in everything, instead of God watching us all from Heaven. Do you agree?

Is all One

Yes, ultimately all is One

decapod says:

"You, me, everyone on the planet, God, the universe and everything. We are all One. We are one great being acting out an illusion of being many little parts that are separate from each other so that we can discover Ourself in a whole new way. And not only are we One but each and every little part of us has some of the attributes of the whole of us." Zingdad.com

RLWalker says:

Not from personal experience but from mostly reading and keeping an open mind I think there must be truth in the idea(if you can call it that) that God shouldn't be a separate entity and that everything is intimately connected in some way.

Although I'm not sure I understand what was meant by "be-ness rather than being". I can't distinguish between those two. Are you and I the be-ness or is it another matter entirely? Please explain

Loraine says:

The God in me sees the God in you; the Light in me sees the Light in you; we are One.

No, God is separate from His creation
