How to Teach Law of Attraction Money Principles to Your Kids

If you are like 10% of the adults who watched "The Secret" or attended/read Law of Attraction or Abraham-Hicks workshops/books, or has just come to learn later in life how money works, it has occurred to you that you want to pass this wisdom to your children, especially when it comes to financial abundance, before they become parents - in fact, before they become adults!

I wrote The Kids' Bank Book exactly for that reason.  After many years of reading and attending various books and workshops, I realized that all of this wisdom was geared toward (middle-aged) adults.  No one had created a way to impart this wisdom to kids - in a fun, concrete, kids way!

Here, you'll find tips, tools and resources (and fun stuff) to teach your children in a positive, law of attraction approach to money.

"Sara Learns the Secret about the Law of Attraction" - by Esther & Jerry Hicks

a Law of Attraction for Kids book

This reviewer, Janet Boyer, had this to say about "Sara, Book 1: Sara Learns the Secret about the Law of Attraction":

"Wow! Sara pondered. That's amazing. I can actually see that the way I feel has only to do with what I'm giving my attention to. The conditions didn't change, but my attention did!" - From the book:

In essence, the whole craze about the Law of Attraction or "the secret" started with a group of evolved entities known as Abraham. Channeled by Esther Hicks, these astute teachers, along with Esther and her husband Jerry, have imparted hundreds of messages to humanity via live workshops, audio, books and inspirational decks.

Each of these media has their own strengths, but perhaps the most engaging and accessible source for the crux of the Law of Attraction is the fictional Sara Series. In Sara, Book 1: Sara Learns the Law of Attraction, a wise owl named Solomon appears to a girl named Sara, becoming her confidante and mentor.

In Sara, Book 1, young Sara faces many challenges at home, school and within her community--experiencing boredom, frustration, confusion and anger. One day, her brother and his friend tell Sara about an owl they encountered on Thacker's Trail who they name Solomon.

Sara decides to look for Solomon among the snow-covered pastures--but finds that the once familiar trails and landmarks look quite different covered in snow. When she tries to cross a frozen river, the ice crackles under her weight. She hears a voice saying, "Have you forgotten that you cannot drown?"--and so begins Sara's journey with the large bird.

Solomon counsels Sara that there is a stream of well-being available to everyone--but the trick to receiving its benefits is allowing her "valve" to stay open. Sara: Book 1 answers important questions often asked by those curious about the Law of Attraction, as well as those frustrated and disappointed about the results of trying to apply this metaphysical principle.

Be Aware: 3 Big Ways we lower (down, down, down) a Kid's Vibration

[and some solutions!]

Be of good cheer - everyone falls into these traps - until we (1) educate ourselves, and (2) exercise different muscles (see below for the better muscles)
  1. "WE HAVE TO ... " - Heck, "have to" turns me off, why wouldn't it turn off a child? Do things because we want to or choose to, not because we "have to" - sounds like someone else has ripped our choices from us, has jailed us, and made us do something we hate. Now, sometimes, when I "want to" go to work, I'm not necessarily in a high energy vibration with it, but I am choosing to go to work, and I am choosing to increase my energy about it. So, do the same for your children - replace the "we HAVE TO go to school, take a bath, hurry hurry hurry up!"
  2. "DON'T ..." - Our brains fail to register the word "not" (also it's conjuntion "don't" as in "do not"), so if you say to a child, "Don't splash the water" guess what that child's brain just heard? "Splash the water" Why? Because that's what 99% of the sentence is about (except for the word "not"). And, there is no way that that little word is ever going to be able to overcome 99% of the sentence. [Plus, our brain just fails to register it!] So, get rid of "not" and "don't" from your vocabulary! TODAY! Start saying things like, "Keep the water in the tub." "Use your manners, please." "Walking only in the store." Mentally note how many times you would have said "don't" today - amazing isn't it? Law of Attraction seems so obvious to us as adults about our own lives, and especially when we focus on money, but it's amazing how insidious that our negative energies are!
  3. "AFTER WE ..., THEN WE ..." - Adults are soooo often telling kids what we are going to do later. As in, driving to the store, "After we get the soda at the store, we're going to stop and pick up Dad." Know what this does? Forces the kid -ho WAS happy and joyful in the NOW in the backseat of the car just daydreaming - forces the kid into the future. Know why? Just because WE failed to have control over our own monkey brain. It is one of our jobs as parents to keep track of things, but we need to practice calming our monkey brain to be IN THE NOW (after we have organized things). We can allow our children the freedom from the junk that is cluttering our monkey brains. The other reason we force kids into the future (and leave the JOY OF THE NOW) is for some mild form of promised happiness (as in, "time for bed, and won't tomorrow be exciting because the Easter Bunny is coming"). We usually do that to coax the child away from any possible "negative" feelings about bedtime. Just let the child be with his/her NOW feelings. And let the Easter Bunny feelings arrive tomorrow - when tomorrow becomes THE NOW.

Money Law of Attraction for Kids - The Basics

From my book, The Kids' Bank Book at www.KidsBankBook.com.
  • A 4-part Bank, with a:
  • More Money section (a.k.a. investments which receive ROI, Return on Investment) Isn't MORE MONEY a cool-er name than "investments"? [If you didn't recognize the letters ROI, get "Rich Dad, Poor Dad" right now - see below.]
  • Christmas/Holiday/Birthday Savings section - for the child to buy gifts for others (essentially this is a long-term savings plan)
  • Spending section- for the child to spend on ANYTHING - there is no discussion - if they want it and it's stupid, and cheap, and gross, if it's not against the family's house rules (as in, no electronic games or no hate music in the house), and they have the money for it - they can buy it! Key here - keep QUIET. By keeping quiet, you empower them to make their own decisions.
  • Donation/Tithing section - for the child to donate. You can discuss the good cause, or it can be completely up to the child.
  • Allowance - same amount, every week, divided equally into each of the 4 bank sections
  • Allowance and "Chores" are 2 separate, unrelated entities - "chores" are just a negative word for our roles on our Home/Family Team. None of us get money for it - we get the happiness of a well-ordered home, and supporting the team. Want more reasons why allowance and chores stay separate? See my Allowance and Kids Squidoo lens
  • ALL money (except for ROI) gets divided equally into the 4 banks - even money received as a gift, or from work, or from allowance, or found on the street (except pennies which go into just one bank of the child's choosing ;)
  • ROI - Return On Investment - gets given to the child at the same time as allowance, and is determined in advance by the parent to be a flat incremental amount, or a percentage of the More Money Bank. The Kids' Bank Book takes care of all of those calculations for you.
  • Bank Of Parents - Remember the times when you went to give allowance and you only had 2 dollar bills in your wallet and you needed 3? For that reason, and tons of others (especially exchanging money for the separate banks), you need a handy Bank Of Parents.
  • Which 4-part bank? Certainly the ones on the market fail in oh, so many, ways. Get the best one in your own kitchen - see the instructions here How to Make a Giving Bank that Works section of my "How to Teach Wealth Habits to Your Kids" Squidoo lens
  • Smile, joy, happiness, relaxation around the Kids' Money Attraction Activities, all now replace any remnant of stress, furrowed-brows, or serious, supposedly wisdom-imparting discussions (otherwise known as lecturing - boring, blah blah blah).
  • Want to know what a light-hearted, yet brilliant, money conversation with your kids looks, feels and sounds like? An entire section of The Kids' Bank Book is dedicated to an actual conversation, along with detailed instructions and guidance for you to use with your children.

4-part and 3-part Kids Banks

Help your kids set money aside for donating and tithing - without lecturing them! The bank is already set up for your child to set aside money to help others.

Did you know?

That The Kids' Bank Book donates 10% of its net profits to Champ House?

What a deal - now you can enlighten your children and donate to a worthy cause all at the same time! Wow, your vibration is approaching #1 Gratitude!

A Focus on Donating

25% of the Kids' money goes to the Donation or Tithing bank section.

Why?

In Law of Attraction language, because donating raises your vibration. Donating money, volunteering, tithing, all raise the vibration of the giver AS MUCH AS the raising-up of the vibration of the receiver.

Plus, donating and tithing mean that we care for others - it combines our actions with our intention (of loving and caring for others).

What a great habit to start when you're a kid. If a child grows up with a 25% donation rate, then a 10% donation rate will be a piece of cake as an adult. Then again, with all of the child's learned money skills, habits, and wisdom, maybe the child will continue to live off 25%, invest 25%, use 25% for long-term savings items, and donate 25% as an adult.

Wow, the world would dramatically change if an additional 10% of the next generation lived like that!

This wealth-building approach is what is missing from our children's education. It's up to US (as parents) to teach and guide our children on how to build wealth, not debt. Don't let your kids follow the herd. Teach them now while they're young. And, this great book by an almost-contemporary is a great help to Mom and Dad while teaching those lessons.
