Search Engine Optimization Books

What is SEO, Internet Marketing, Pay Per Click & SEM?

Search Engine Optimization (SEO) is the process of making a website more compliant and desirable to the search engines so that it gets better exposure in the search results. This means better page and search engine rankings without having to pay the search engine for any or all of your traffic. It involves choosing targeted keyword phrases, manipulating meta tags, SEO page content, link popularity, offsite marketing and other search engine related activities that are either organic, paid or not. The goal is to obtain optimal performance, exposure and branding,

Internet Marketing is a combination of branding and advertising on the Internet. Looks easy to do, though can be quite a challenge when niche and geo targeting. It is also time consuming. You want to do this as inexpensively as possible. On the other hand, you want to target quality locations that are going to drive the online exposure and business that you need. This is more than classified advertising and splash pages. A successful Internet Market campaign is well planned and rich in sales conversions, list building and search engine rankings for your website.

SEO Internet Marketing is taking all of the basic practices of Search Engine Optimization and applying to every strategy of your Internet Marketing campaign. Search Engine Marketing is the strategy we take to implement all Web 2.0 and traditional methodologies in order to have the very best exposure and saturation in your specific competitive market. It is the technical and practical combined from alpha to omega ... it's never stops; it is more organic than paid. It is SEO strategic.

Organic Search Engine Optimization (Organic SEO) is search engine optimization without using an Pay-Per-Click system from Google, Yahoo, MSN or any other pay per click advertising source. This can be more passive or aggressive method of market saturation depending on your budget and personal goals. The results are the 10 organic text listings on a search engine page (the content). It does provide a far better advantage of warm leads and sales conversion rates. It is much less expensive in the long term.Organic SEO has focus on all competitive terms and branding purposes. Once this is implemented, some choose to supplement with Pay-Per-Click for additional branding and / or compliment organic efforts.

Pay-Per-Click (PPC) are the advertisements that you see at the top and right hand corner of the major search engines, and on various websites like this Squidoo lens. Some consumers are drawn to those first. Others consumers prefer to browse the search engine results for their direct content opposed to clicking on the PPC ads (as they know these do not always apply to their needs). You will read many sites that claim to help you develop a technique that is extremely cheap and effective. Unfortunately, if you are targeting a competitive market then that can take much longer than the organic SEO or paying the Pay Per Click market value. It can also provide more clicks from competitors; not the quality leads and conversions that you need to make money. On the other hand, a strong PPC campaign can give you the boost that you need - just make sure that you understand that impressions are not clicks to your site and that you are paying for each click-thru. This means that you can get exposure, but not clicks (this is where a company name would benefit for branding). You can get more clicks than sales (this is why you hear about people going broke by using Pay Per Click strategies). You have to find a balance or hire a SEO SEM Specialist to help you.

Did you realize that 80% of the clicks made on Google come from the left-side of Google and NOT from paying for Pay Per Click - Go organic first.

PGH will always be the "The Steel City"

Living, Playing & Doing Business in Pittsburgh, PA (Allegheny County)

I did not move to Pittsburgh because it was named "America's Most Livable City" for young professionals. Nor did I relocate here after attending The University of Pittsburgh (PITT), Carnegie Mellon University (CMU) or Duquesne University (Dukes). Our city has only gained that prestige in the last few years, and I think that only occurred from really good marketing for the Rivers Casino that Pittsburgh is expecting to launch this August 2009. Regardless, I am like the MANY others in my age group still living in this conservative city. I remember the steel mills that blanked the rivers for miles and then when they disappeared over the years.

I am a 100%, full fledged, "born and bread", native "Pittsburgher". I was born at Mercy Hospital in Oakland. I was raised on the border of Squirrel Hill & Greenfield. Watched the Steelers win their many Super Bowls. Cheer each year as the Pittsburgh Penguins go for the Stanley Cup and our Pirates baseball team seems to struggle to complete. I attended college at Point Park University that is smack dab in the city of Pittsburgh. This was one of our original business schools and now a gen to both the artistic and technologically minded students. I am writing this blog from my home office in the South Hills. Yes, I'm a Pittsburgh gal and proud.

PITTSBURGH HAS MANY NACK NAMES, THOUGH IT WILL ALWAYS BE THE "STEEL CITY" TO ME!

1) The 'Burgh
2) City of Bridges
3) City of Champions
4) Iron City
5) The College City
6) The Smoky City
7) Steel Town
8) Roboburgh
