They are no stranger to trouble with the Law
Leading Edge Recovery Solutions is currently being sued by the Illinois Attorney General for violations of Federal and State Laws. If they have been contacting you chances are they have committed a CRIME if you spoke with them on the phone.
Illinois law makes it illegal for them to record a telephone call without your permission. If you have poke with them on the phone and they did not advise you that they were recording the call you need to take the steps to report them for breaking the law.
Also if they have harassed you or abused you in any way in their collection efforts you should take the steps needed to protect yourself and report them to the proper agencies.

If you State requires a Collection Agency to be Licensed you should also report them to your State's Licensing Authority. (sorry you will have to find those links yourself for now)

- The Federal Trade Commission does not investigate each individual complaint, but if they notice many complaints coming in on one company they will investigate them.
If you feel like they ave harassed you in several contacts with you report each contact as a separate complaint.

- While it may not help you much the ACA is the Collection Industry trade association. They typically look to protect their collectors but still worth the time.
- Better Business Bureau
- File complaints with both the Chicago Better Business Bureau, because that is where they are located and with your local BBB
- The Federal Communication Commission
- If they have called your cellphone with an automated dialer they fall under the same rules as telemarketers.

A Shawn Johnson called my 80 year old grandmother who refused to give them my number. I called 800-608-5339 and a male answered claiming to be Shawn Johnson. I asked what company this was and he refused to tell me. He asked me how to spell my last name and I got suspicious. I don't owe anyone any money, Why are they calling me? I read all the names they claim to use and they seem too fake. Shawn Johnson, Craig Jensen, Robert Carmichael, ect. Yeah right.

My wife had her Sears Credit sold to this company even when we had Money Management making the payment for us on time. So Sears is just a guilty of selling the tort and is Leading Edge. Even when I asked them not to call my 90 year old parents because the check had been mailed out over night they went ahead and called my parents. It amazes me how these low lifes can stay above group when they don't care if they put my parents under group because of the stress. In short, I only pray that they all have something worse than a bill haunt them in their future. Keep this in mind...you can't do good business with bad people.

We began receiving calls from Leading Edge about 2 weeks ago, asking for my husband. Upon reaching him in person last night (after refusing to tell me who they were), they were immediately rude. My husband disputed the account, and they insisted that he pay the whopping $97.00 due on the account, or they would notify the credit agencies. He asked for a mailing address or a phone number in order to contact them back after doing some investigation into this alleged debt, and the guy "Michael" became hostile, saying again and again that unless my husband pay IMMEDIATELY, he would report us. Eventually, my husband just talked over him until he got the requested supervisor, who also refused to give us a mailing address or ph#. Hubby insisted that they mail us a statement, as we had never received anything to date. They stated they would mail a statement. We went ahead and pulled our free credit report, and (big surprise) no defaults or turn overs. I'm thinking scam.

I just received a call from 866-577-8402 looking for what I think is a total different person but requesting to talk to my mother in a business matter from Colorado.
She does not speak the language, she has not been in any business related transactions in Colorado, she has ever been or lived in Colorado, she does not own my credit cards , she has never own a phone service and worst of all she has been terminally sick for the past two years.
We have explained this to these people for the past 18 months but they keep calling. What's wrong with this industry, the person they are looking for has the exact name as my mother but almost 30 years younger. But of course they won't discuss business matter with family members to clear up this mess.
So whoever you are "866-577-8402" you can keep on calling all you want because I will answer the phone and if you will like to discuss any type of business you'll do it through me.

leading edge are the most uncareing .and rude.Im a 49 year old women with a bad heart.while on the phone with them i had to take nitro.and not onece did they ask me if i needed help.they just wanted their money.a 10 year old cridet.that was my late husbands.I payd the amount agreed .now they want more money.they can just go to hell.

I don't owe anyone any money as far as I am aware, but I've been receiving these calls stating, "This is Craig Jensen (though sometimes it sounds like he's saying Jepson), and I have an important matter to discuss with you. This is not a sales call." Et cetera, et cetera... I never answer because I have no reason to answer the 866-577-8402 number. I would just like for this seemingly neverending nuisance to be stopped.

This is a follow up to the blog titled "Chris" that I posted on July 31, 2008. The aforementioned matter was resolved to my satisfaction by Leading Edge Recovery Solutions and I do not have any further concerns or issues with Leading Edge Recovery Solutions. They agreed to cease their collection efforts and return the disputed claim/charges to the original creditor to address as they see fit.

I owe B of A money from too far back that I dont even remember. They transferred my acct. to Lovely Leading Edge and I have been paying them for the last 3-4 years. I cant afford to pay them a lot so i paid what i could. I just went through all my bills and saw(for the 1st time) that each month i am owing even more money. Does anyone know how that is possible?????? By the way their old letters never said what your balance was and they never return any calls so this was all new to me. If anyone knows how i could owe more and more each month after i make a payment please let me know. And if you know if it is illegal or something that they have not given me any information on my balance in 3 years let me know! I hope they all go through a similar situation just to see what it feels like to be in our shoes.

I called the number provided and they have repeated stated my number is not in their system so they can't help me. Yet the harassing calls continue.

My wife and I received a call from them on 7/30/08 and they left a message asking for Alexandra, who happens to be my wife, to call them back and that it was not a solicitation. I called them today and talked to someone named Jeff Collins. He stated he was calling because my wife owes $2,635.45 on a Wells Fargo credit card from 2005 and that the card had accumulated $1,000 interest (from presumably a starting amount of $1,635.45). I talked to my wife about it and she adamently insists she never had a Wells Fargo credit card and does not owe anything on a card from 2005. Jeff stated "we called you every day and left a message and this is the first time your calling back," even though this 7/30 phone call was the first one we received from him. Also, he insisted that they had mailed letters in May, June and July even though no letters were ever received. When I asked him to send a statement or a bill to my wife to review it, he stated I was "just trying to buy time" and that if he did not have a payment from me before got off the phone with me, he would pursue legal action and court proceedings. He stated even though the agency was demanding 10% of the debt today, he would allow me to pay $100 to defer it another month (even though my wife disputes the claim and it would not make sense to pay). I told him I would not pay him anything and he said he was going to pursue legal action. Anyway, I made a complaint to the FTC and the Better Business Bureau, and just FYI to all you "consumers" out there, who like me, never asked for this harrassment, this company, Leading Edge Recovery, has a failing record on the Better Business Bureau and is not recognized by them as a reputable company.

This company started calling a few weeks ago. The first time my husband answered and they asked for a Rodney "somebody" My husband told the guy he had the wrong number, they guy got rude and insisted that he did not have the wrong number, my husband hung up on him. They left a message a few days later and I called them back. The receptionist refused to tell me what business this was and then a man got on the phone and asked if Rodney "somebody" lived here, I said no and he asked what number I was calling from. I again asked what business this was and he got really rude and would not tell me, just kept asking what number I was calling from. I then called him an "a--hole" and hung up on him. Since then they have been leaving messages daily...

They are calling my phone number at work for a guy who had my number at least three years ago. Thank goodness that they call after business hours and all I get is the voicemail messages, so I just delete them.

I have received at least 3 calls from Leading Edge, each time asking for Carrie Jones. Twice I've spoken to a man named Steve, who I might add is very rude. I ask him to confirm the number he called, even the address of the person he is looking for. He says obviously your not Carrie Jones, has she moved? I DON'T KNOW CARRIE JONES. Please....remove my phone number from your system, I ask. And they still keep calling.
2 can play at this...maybe we should start calling Leading Edge direct phone number 773-380-8800 daily. Just an idea.

I also received calls from them almost every day after I cancelled the check for the 10% down payment but I never returned their calls. They finally stopped calling around Christmas, and the original incident (and the incident was how I found out my account had been sold out in the first place) happened back in September. They were total bullies, threatened to take me to court, I don't even remember what else now. I contacted a credit agency who was very helpful...advised me to cancel that payment, and gave me links with information on debt collection practices, and guided me to the FTC to report them.

They called me at work and actually made me cry...they told me I had 10 minutes to authorize a 10% payment on a credit card that had been charged off, or I'd have to pay it in full right then and there. And here's the kicker...the account had been sold to them when I had payments scheduled on it to the original creditor! Then it just depended on who I talked to at the creditor...some admitted it was erroneously sold out but that they couldn't pull it back. They called right before a meeting as well, and when I told them I would call them back, I had them calling me before my meeting was over (on my personal cell phone...not sure how they got that number.) The gentleman who made me cry (which I don't do easily) was the rudest, cruellest person I've ever dealt with. He actually used the words "so what, and I don't care" several times throughout the conversation, twisted what I said to him, and asked me personal questions about my credit report.

After at least a dozen of these calls, I decided to press 1 and they asked me if a Lisa Perkins was home. I told them they had the wrong number and asked what company they were calling from. They hung up on me. I called back and they rudely said they would take my number off the list. I told them I was registered with "Do-Not-Call" and they told me it did not apply but did tell me, after significant pressure, they were calling from Leading Edge. This "company" is a menace and I truly hope they get what they deserve.

A few months ago my uncle passed away, leaving no will and more debts than assets.
These people somehow got the mistaken impression that I'm responsible for his debts and won't stop harrassing me.

I keep getting harassing phone calls from this company 800-608-5454 from a Robert Levin or Robert Carmichael stating this is not a sales call, I do not show anything outstanding on my accts, but have had relatives who have passed, I feel this company needs to do some research before calling people they have no clue who or what they are calling about, Obituary Central is online tooo DUH !!!

I'm constantly getting harrassing calls from 800 608 5423. And it's not even for one of my debts. One of my relatives died recently with some credit card balances and they seem to think that I'm somehow responsible.

They are located at 5440 N. Cumberland Rd. 3rd Floor, Chicago, IL. They've taken post dated checks from me every month for 3 years and now I find out they are not reporting the payments to the credit bureaus! I'm going after them for restitution and after the original debtor for illegally selling them the debt. I happen to have a client in the same building and they were telling me how the building had to install locks on all of the bathrooms for the first time because the 'employees' of Leading Edge were causing so many problems and were scaring the other tenants! They look like a gang when they leave for lunch. Tattoo's; leather jackets and so on.

I received a call from a 'Phil Hastings' at 1-800-608-5440 x1720 and he mntioned that it was a 'time-sensitive matter' and I needed to respond.
I called the general number and asked to be removed from the list. A female operator said, "we are a legitimate business, not a solicitor." I am tired of their sh*t. I will be reporting them to the Attorney General's office!!!

Out of the blue they called my company cell, never gave me a company name, just that they were a collection agency, and that I owed on a Sears' account from 15yrs ago! and that this was a courtesy call, so I could pay up today before they took action that would harm my credit report. I told him that I was sure that this was a mistake and or a scam and that until I had gotten legal advise, I wasn't about to pay anything. He told me he would hold further action until the next day to give me time. I called Sears' and they had no record of my account at all. I called Leading Edge back and asked them to fax the proof I owe to me, they said they would. They have not. I have since called them 5 more times requesting the info,and I'm still waiting, I will continue to call till I get the info I want! The amount I supposedly owe is less than 100.00, but it's not the amount, it's the fact that I know I don't owe this debt.

I had been having ongoig communication with this company. Despite the fact that they were talking to me almost daily they started contacting my family. I was irate and called and told them to take my parents number out of their system and threatened to file a law suit due to violating the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act. I was told that they took the number out of their system but my parents have been contacted twice since that time. I have filed a complaint with the IL Attorney General and the Federal Trade Commision. I am planning on contacting an Attorney regardin this issue.

They too have been calling me over and over. They also called my MOM and told her things that pertained to my account. Isn't this illegal? they hung up on me when I started asking too many questions! I got Mr. Fitzgerald. The recoreding told me to call Robert Carmicheal. This is rediculous!

Iwas contacted by a women named Elizebeth she had asked for me and I told her she was speaking to me. She then told me asked me nastly if I had an attorney. I asked her why would I need one. She stated this was an attempted to settle debt I had with b of a. I did owe them. they turned me over to worldwide asset purchasing 11.llc. when I could not settle debt do to my husband having a heart. They then turned me overtothese people.I was told that if I paid 110. to day mysettlement would be lowered to 1701.66. I gave myacct # and told her that just for today I would pay 210.00 but not mo. only 110.00. She then told me it would' nt be with drawntilthe 29th of jan. Needless to say they deducted 2 days later. Then on the 28th of jan they deducted 1701.66 and wiped out my checking acct. Some settlement. The number she gave me was 1-800-608-5339 ext 7779. When I called this # I was told there was no such ext and to please hold for the next available person. Then the phone went dead.

This "Leading Edge" company calls everyday. When I pick up, there is a recording saying "Hello, this is Michael Cunningham. It is important that we talk to you. Please call my number at 1-800-608-5423." I have tried to dial them back to inform them that they are calling a corporate office, and to please remove our number from the list. I was very polite-as always, because I am at work, and the phones are my responsibility. When I give them the numbers that pool into my phone (as a receptionist, I have 3 lines-which the gentleman said "man-that's alot of work, and is going to take a long time to look them up"), they say they cannot locate the numbers in their system, and there must be a number that I am not giving them. I inform them that there is not. They then tell me, to call them back if we get another call. I checked with our Business Phone Provider and made sure that those were the only three numbers that reach my phone, and they are. So, today when I get the call, I immediately call them-as they requested. I get someone else on the line, and they are, again, not very polite. I have to go through giving them all three numbers again. The lady then states that she cannot locate them in her system (surprise-surprise). She then says, are you sure we are not looking for you? I almost lost my cool then-but calmly told her-I'm absolutely positive that your company is not looking for my company-as we are a corporate office for Air Conditioning Systems. She then stated that if we got another call to call them back, and she would get me to the IT department. So basically-the call was pointless, I asked her if she could go ahead and transfer me to them since this was my second call, and everytime they call me-it takes away from me answering one of our Customer's calls. She told me to hold, I got silence, one busy signal, a couple of rings, and then click-apparently she hung up on me. Giving them the benefit of the doubt, thinking maybe they accidentally disconnected me, I immediately call back, and I asked for the gentleman's extension, he was very rude and wouldn't give it to me until he had my name...this was new. I gave it to him-but he never gave me his extension. I explained the situation to him, and asked to be put through to IT. He told me to hold, and I got music this time, then silence-I was let go again. I call back, and now I am pretty frustrated and when the next guy answered, I was very straightforward and super professional. I asked for his name and extension. Told him the situation. I again had to give them all three numbers. Again-not in their system. I tell the gentleman what happened and that I was told that I needed to talk to the IT department, but everytime I requested to be transferred-the people hung up on me. He told me he would look into the situation, and put me on hold. All the while-I'm having to answer the phones for my company...this is getting ridiculous. He finally gets me back on the line and says he is having his supervisor look into the numbers I gave him. That was fine, I told him I would hold, thinking finally to get to the bottom of this. He comes back-and tells me that the numbers I gave were definitely not in their system. I then asked for the IT department. This is where he gets rude... He said he couldn't transfer me due to the fact that they were not allowed to transfer me there...WHAT? I asked him-why then did the others tell me that was who I needed to talk to and then try to transfer me there??? He says "Mam, quit talking and just listen to me, I have a really bad toothache right now." I think, Oh my goodness, is this for real? I explain to him, that maybe I should run this by our legal department (yes we are that big of a corporation-worldwide), and he tells me..."Mam, that sounds like a threat." I say no, I'm not threatening, it is my company's right to know what calls are coming through, and if they are a debt collection agency then that would be our account payable/receivable and legal departments. (why does it bother him so much if his company was not doing anything wrong-if they had nothing to hide-he should have been fine with that) He then states that he will contact the IT department himself and have us removed from the list... My thought is-wait a minute-didn't all the people form his company tell me I wasn't on that list???? If I get another call, I think I will let our legal department know.

They were constantly calling, even calling me at work. They tried to play all so helpful and say if there was ever a problem with making a payment just call them and it would be no problem. I did that and got stuck with some supervisor that wanted me to transfer him to HR so they could start taking money out of my pay check. He threatened me with jail time and was using vulgar language. I quit paying them and now I have some lawyer sending me letters. Finally, I have had enough and waiting to see a lawyer on friday.

The screwed me!I owed on a charged off credit card that went into default when I became disabled in 2003.
I was contacted by them in July,2007& they "worked" with me on paying off my $4,700 defaulted loan.
I told them that I could afford $100/mo.which they would take out of my checking account. They didn't tell me that there was a 44% interest charge& now just notified me that they are charging me a $10 convenience fee for cashing my automated withdrawal.
I'm hiring a lawyer to rectify this as talking to them is useless-any body have any other suggestions?

I too recieve call's every day - tryed to tell them that I do not know the person they are calling about. I asked them 4 times now to stop calling - they still call. When you call them back all they are is rude. They want information and when you tell them you do not have any they just keep asking. I have reported them to the BBB and Ill. Att. General. These people have called me 63 times in the last 3 weeks, often leaving a message from Roger Bass, which is clearly taped. I called the 800 number they left, and the woman asked me my cellphone #. When I refused to give it, she hung up on me. I won't call them, because I don't want them to know more

This place is a joke. I get calls for 2 wks with the same recorded message, "This is Roger Bass, this is not a sales call". I called the number every day and no one answered. Finally, one Saturday morning a live person called and asked for David. I started to respond, there is no David, and before I could finish they hung up on me. I called back and explained that I was hung up on, they said that they will take my number off their list and hung up on me again. By now I am irate. I called back to speak with a manager and Mr. Jeff Collins said that I was holding up his representatives phone lines and HE hung up on me. I called back to get the mailing address, and they flatly refused!
