Clutter around the house is a problem most people I know face. People tend to be pack rats. They don't like throwing away the items they collect. People fear they might need old bills or pay stubs later and don't want to throw away something important. For various reasons, people allow clutter to build up in their home and office. But when you eliminate some of the clutter around your house, you not only make yourself more efficient, but you create an all-around better home environment.

Why it is so Hard to Eliminate Clutter

But, honestly, it's damn hard to let go of things. The reason you have 'things' that you no longer use is that they - at some point in your life - were important to you. Since these things were important to you at one point, there's that side of your conscientiousness that whispers to you 'it may be important to you once again' or 'this object is a little piece of you. Get rid of it, and you're getting rid of a piece of yourself'.

But ask yourself this question: "would my life be any different tomorrow without this object?". If the answer is no, and the object offers to clear circumstance where it may come in handy in the foreseeable future, then why hold on to it? In fact, wouldn't getting rid of that 'thing' take a little bit of weight off your shoulders? Even if the answer is clearly 'yes', it's still not easy.

Eliminate The Mess and Watch Your Life Improve

This is a problem almost every house in America has, and the remedy is fairly simple. This can arise when you move or sell your property or you just want to start over. What everyone needs to do every once in a while, should be to de-clutter their life. You will find that you possess stuff that you want to dispose of somehow never disappears.

Don't you imagine that it's time to take all of the things that simply get hauled from one place to another, and get rid of them. Have you ever wonder why it is so hard to get rid of things, and why it is so hard to get organized? Is the chaos leading you to feel stressed out and tired? Make up your mind to take a day, and de-clutter your life, and see whether it won't make you feel like a big burden has been removed from your life. You probably should start by having boxes and marking them garbage, storage, donations and recycle.

Examine all your stuff and think about whether or not you still use them then place them into the proper box. Should you run into things that you just are unable to get rid of, put in a box that you have labeled memories. Put the box aside somewhere and review that box and decide if the stuff in there is something you really need. It's possible you might take a photograph of the things in the box, and keep the photos, but get rid of everything else.

While you get things out of the way, be sure to tidy up everywhere you go. Convert it into a common practice to keep it clean, or the clutter will keep returning, and your house will again be a mess. Once you finish using anything, make it a habit to put it away right away. Cleaning a few things every day is easier than letting everything accumulate, until you have another big mess to clean up. Mess heaps up every day, continually, so you need to de-clutter the same way.

Put in the effort to take some time during the day to organize things and clean up. The sole reason a mess gets so unmanageable is because it is allowed to pile up. It could take hard work to force yourself to be disciplined, but after you get organized, you will realize how nice it is to work in a clean, organized space. The clutter will not be in your way psychologically and you're going to be in good spirits. If it seems like too big of a job, just begin with one room.
