When I worked as environmental educator, I used this activity very often, even to allow children to notice the differences between leaves belonging to different species. It´s funny and useful, and I like it a lot - and I love when my friends use giftpaper made this way!

Great idea and activity I remember our family doing this when I was really small. Thanks for the memories.

As a kid, I have done this activity many times to get the imprints of the leaf on the paper while drawing and it looks great. This is a great way of getting different carvings on the paper while learning drawing.

Until today, I had never heard of leaf rubbing. I do a lot of papercraft, and this is autumn in Vancouver, meaning there are huge maple leaves to rub. You can be sure I will be trying this out shortly.

I enjoy leaf rubbing too. Nice to see another devotee! I especially enjoy rubbing through a nice thick clump of Nepeta cataria

Wow! I get it ... this is very cool and sounds like fun to rub some leaves. I'm thinking too that the rubbed leaves could be glazed on a pendant to make jewelry!

Nice lens, Crystal. I like your divider.

Used to do these craft when I was younger. Now, hardly... but I am still draw every now and then.

Another activity you might want to try out is to cut out shapes from cards and use crayons or pastel, to color the edges.

After that, place the cut-out on a piece of paper with the colored edges facing up. Then rub the colors from the edge onto the paper below. When done, you'll see nice effects of colors forming the shapes on your paper.
