The structure of the discussions is that Jay Abraham and Rich Schefren introduce the panel members, then one of them asks a question and each of the panel give their answer with examples etc.
You may think you've heard it all before but believe me, you will get information that is cutting-edge, often based on current research and from the people who are in the front line where their answers make the difference in millions of Dollars ($), Pounds (£), Euros (€') and Yen (¥).
Examples of some of the questions, include:
Most entrepreneurs think of themselves as being credible, trustworthy or believable. So what's the best way to get an unbiased viewpoint of what we are really conveying to the marketplace and how do we develop thick enough skins to see ourselves as we really are?
Talking about specific tactics - How would you suggest our listeners make each contact point with their market more effective (whether it be customer service, marketing, advertising or simply describing the attributes of their products or services.)?
If you were to give each of our listeners an exercise that would put them on the path to growing their trust, believability, and credibility, what would you recommend? And, what benefits will they gain by doing this and why?
How does conventional marketing overlook or miss totally the power of the brain-based
understanding of brain-based messaging?
How do you shift your marketing focus from old school to brain-based and why?
What's the biggest single change that listeners need to do right now if you were doing an
immediate intervention in the listeners' businesses what would you do and why?
Once all of the panel members have answered the 7 questions, Jay Abraham and Rich Schefren summarize and give their 'takeaways' from the panelists' answers. Their summary endeavours to clarify how you can take action on what you've learned.
Now here's my take on the first two sessions.
There were some technical problems during the first session but those got sorted and the second session went very smoothly. There are still a few problems with getting access to the recordings as quickly as one might like but these are worth putting up with for the huge benefits you get from all the information given by the panelists.
I took copious notes during both sessions but because there was so much good stuff which I didn't get written down, I decided to upgrade my free membership to get the recordings and the transcripts of each session, as well as the action guides - $49 (£29.54) is all it cost. This also helps in case I can't be on the webinar at the scheduled times.
During the first session, the key element was trust and how to build it, retain it and recover it if necessary.
Some of the things discussed included taking action to see how you really come across to your customers. Methods included surveys, questionnaires, asking your customers and competitors what they think of you, getting feedback after a sales presentation, etc. The single most important suggestion I heard the panel make, one which most small companies and entrepreneurs probably don't think of. is to video yourself and your sales people, watch how you actually come across, see how your face projects your feelings, see what happens when you get flustered or annoyed. Your customers and prospects see that, you should too.
Another element of trust involved establishing your credibility by becoming an expert in your field, write blogs, use the technology like Twitter, FaceBook etc. Make sure you establish emotional authority and that you remember that prospects make decisions on the emotional level, even though they think they are making 'rational' decisions. As Russell Granger said "We are feeling machines that think."
In both the first and second sessions, there were many references to understanding the importance of appealing to the "old brain", the selfish part that has to have the answer to what's in it for me?
Approaching your prospects with who your company is and how many years you've been in business may have worked at some point, but it sure won't work on your website and probably doesn't work with many of your face to face customers either. Potential customers are looking for the answers to how is your product or service going to solve my problem? If you don't answer that question, one click and they're away.
The old brain also thinks in stories and in pictures so the use of graphics that put across the message - without the use of reams of text - is the one that will appeal to that part of the brain of your customer that you HAVE to engage or a decision won't be made.
One suggestion that I've already put to use is a question that Russell Granger (again) said he uses as the single most effective exercise to activate friendship or trigger bonding with people - "What do you like to do when you're not working so hard?"
Just think of the impact, especially when we all know how much people enjoy talking about what really lights their fire! It's a great way to set the stage because the prospect, or whoever, gets the impression right away that you're interested in them - just don't forget, you have to listen to the answer!!
All in all, the information I've got from the two sessions of this extraordinary collection of people giving me the benefit of their knowledge and expertise is priceless and it's Free! That's real value in anyone's book!
