Leap Frog toys are the best!! I bought this as a Christmas gift for my five year old twins. I thought it might be too advanced for them, but they had been asking me about oceans and continents, so I thought we'd give it a go. What a great toy! We have gotten many times our money's worth from this purchase. They have spent countless hours playing and learning with this toy. Every time we get in the car, the globe goes with us (a little cumbersome for a travel toy, but it's their favorite). I'm embarrassed to say I need to spend a little time with the globe to catch up with them! We recently purchased the Turbo-Twist Math - another favorite. Next is the Turbo Twist Spelling..

I bought this for my 7 year old son and WE can't stop playing. He has even found mistakes on the flat map at school(countries that have changed names recently).I would definitely recommend this toy for any grade-schooler. The Eureka game is the best! He has learned so many different countries and can usually find more than me in the time alotted. They are learning and don't even know it. Get rid of those gameboys and playstations and get an Explorer Globe! Definitely a MUST HAVE!!!

This is my second leapfrog globe, the first for my grandson, and this one for me. I like to keep a globe about, and figured I could use the extra info, the elevations and poplations and etc. It's fun.

This is still the best talking globe out there. It is a great investment in your child's education, and it's an incredibly useful reference. It is a very well thought out design, with something to learn for various levels of geographical knowledge. I enjoy playing the Eureka mode, which is a game for finding places on the globe. I love that it gives you smart clues that help you when you're stumped, but doesn't just give the answer away. I love that you can switch it to continents, countries, or states and provinces (but of course as an American, what do I care about Canadian provinces, eh?? hehe). It has a nice collection of interesting facts about each location to explore, and this toy has captured the attention of every person, child or adult, that I have ever shown it to.

As for durability, I bought ours 12/2005, and it's still going 3/2010. I don't let the kids (my two boys are 3 and 9 now) throw it around, but it has cracked open slightly once around the equator, and my boyfriend gently put it back together. The stylus sometimes goes haywire if you touch it to your hand or other things it's not meant to point to, but we find if we have good batteries and just push the on button to reset, it generally works fine.

My kids love this globe.I purchased it when they were in elementary school and they still use it at high school age. They enjoy the timed tests to find counties on the globe. They still compete to see who can do the best.
