You have probably heard the so called "gurus" messing this for several years now, and gurus or not, it is correct.

Here is an example:
One of these Gurus, Terry Dean, held an Internet Seminar with 72 paying participants.
As a test, he sent an ad to his list with 30.000 subscribers. After 24 hours this ad pulled in $13,500 in orders, and after 72 hours his ad pulled in $33,245!

So, why it is so important that you have your own private mailing-list?
To put it simple, it is the difference about success and failure!

Please note that I'm using the term "own private mailing-list".

You may know that there are a lot of free list-building programs on the Net, like ResidualOptinProfits, ListInferno and many others.

It is important to realize that these lists are not your own list. In most cases you are simply building a downline where you can send your ads once or twice a week.

Other members are sending their ads to these members too.

And you are helping the program owner building HIS private mailing-list!

You will never make a lot of sales to a list like that, because people buy from people they know.

It takes time to build a responsive list; you got to build relations first.

So, what we will focus on here is to build your private mailing-list.

If you are doing this correctly, you will send your offers to your list instead of advertising in the open market!

The simple steps in list-building are:

1. You advertise a squeeze page, where you will give away an e-book, report or something of value.

2. People visit your page and fill out a form.

3. Email-addresses are added to an auto-responder.

4. The auto-responder sends out the first message immediately.

5. Follow-up messages are sent out in the sequence you set them to.

Important! Don't start with sending ads to your list. Give them something of value to start with, a free e-book, free reports or tips.

Writing you own articles? Great! You can't offer them something better than your own stuff. This is something they don't have seen before.

Start blasting your ads immediately and you will have a large unsubscribe rate.

As I said earlier, building your list takes time. Send them valuable content; slowly become their friend and you will be paid in the end!

Here are some tips that will keep your subscribers stay on your list:

1. Treat your subscribers with respect. Give them valuable content; don't blast your ads right away.

2. Keep your promises, if you promised them a newsletter next Friday, give them a newsletter next Friday.

3. Ask them what they want to read about. A survey can give you valuable information about your subscribers.

4. Let they know that you are there with regular updates.

5. Send minimum 7 follow-up letters to all your offers. Statistics prove that people need to see the same offer 7 times before they buy.
