Seven tips to help you learn German fast, effectively and have fun!

Learn German: seven tips to help you.

Learn German regularly, easily and enjoy.

LEARN GERMAN - top tip Eins
Study a little bit each day. Break your study time down into 15-20 minute slots (use a kitchen timer). For each hour of lessons, if you are attending a class, aim to support it with an hour of study divided into 15 or 20-minute slots during the day.

LEARN GERMAN - top tip Zwei
Spend one of your sessions learning grammar and one learning vocabulary.

LEARN GERMAN - top tip Drei
Make your self some flash cards. Use coloured index cards (one colour for each gender for nouns and a different colour for verbs). Write the English on the back.
Aim to learn between seven and ten new words each day.

LEARN GERMAN - top tip Vier
Practice speaking out aloud. Record your voice and see you German you can sound!

LEARN GERMAN - top tip Fünf
If you have cable or satellite TV see if you can find a German one and switch the subtitles on.
Rent or borrow a German DVD (or video). Switch on the German subtitles if you have this facility available. You can watch and read at the same time and you will be surprised how quickly your vocabulary will grow.

Did you know that you can get satellite TV on your computer or laptop? To find out more Click Here!

LEARN GERMAN - top tip Sechs
Buy some paper stickers and label objects around your room (or your home).

LEARN GERMAN - top tip Sieben
Buy a German newspaper, comic or children's book. Nowadays picture dictionaries abound in many languages. If you have a good language bookseller you may like to try reading stories in parallel text (the German on one side of the page and the English on the other).

Most important of all have fun! Look for associations that you can make between English and German. Have you noticed, you can already count to seven? Eins, zwei, drei, vier, fünf, sechs, sieben, acht, neun, zehn; and now you can count to ten!
