Are you ready to learn how to speak German?

Are you trying to get through your German class in high school or college or planning to travel to Germany and need a little help? Well, take a few tips from my twin brother and me. We are both fluent in German. My brother started learning German in the 9th grade and I did not start until I was 24 and had just gotten out of the US Army. We both found that making German fun and simple was the best way to learn German and we'd like to pass on some of our tips.

It is Easy to Learn How to Speak German

Try a Simple Self Help Course

Learning German can be easier than you think. When my brother realized he was going to take German the next fall in the 9th grade, he picked up a basic German language self-help book during summer vacation. He studied it for a few months and was able to make all A's in his German class that year. (His teacher was so amazed with his knowledge of German that he even asked him if he was being tutored outside of class). What was great about this book was that it was not like your typical, rigid high school text book. It helped my brother learn how to speak German because, when it taught the grammar, sentence structure and vocabulary, it used a lot of easy-to-follow example conversations. This was before the days of the internet. Today, on-line courses have expanded on these easy, less rigid teaching methods. Just like my brother was able to make A's on all his report cards with his self-help book, I have discovered that Quick-Basic-German.info is a great course that will get your German off the ground and help you learn how to speak German, in a way that is more fun and more easy than in a classroom.

Be Motivated to Learn How to Speak German

The More Fun it Is, The Easier it Is

I learned German mostly on my own - out of class. I took a night class for about a month, but when I got out of the Army I had to quit the class. I then lived on the beach in Florida and met an old German veteran who couldn't speak English. I decided to grab my old text book and learn German so I could converse with this gentleman. I can't remember the name of the text book, but it seemed straight forward, easy, with good examples. I studied the book about every day, till I could have small conversations with the old gentleman, who happened to be my neighbor. He was impressed with my progress and was also happy to have someone to talk to. I found that having this elderly neighbor to talk with really motivated me to learn German. So, when you learn how to speak German, make it motivating, interesting and fun.

Learn How to Speak Advanced German in Germany

But Learn Basic German Here at Home

I found myself learning and speaking German so The Brandenburger Gate in Berlin well that I decided to attend a language course in Germany. The course started exactly a year after I had started to learn how to speak German. Just from my intensive self-study of basic German that year I was able to start out in the intermediate level in the course. This enabled me to get a lot of benefit out of the course, than if I had started the course on the ground level. Do yourself a big favor - do not start learning German by taking a course in Germany. When you are learning basic German, you can just as well do that at home. You need to get down the fundamentals of the German language with such on-line courses as Quick-Basic-German.info, then when you have established a good, solid, basic foundation of German, a language course in Germany can propel you into intermediate and advanced levels. I consider myself in an advanced German level now - I can read German poems, newspapers and literature. But I took learning German one step at a time and made it fun and simple. When you learn how to speak German - make it fun, keep it simple!
