Learn the dance Tango

There are several different types of tangos that exist, each with there own flair. Most styles are danced by a woman and a man expressing an element of romance with their synchronized movements. Most styles of the tango are dance in open embrace with the couple having space between their bodies or in close embrace. The couple that dance the tango are closely connected at the chest or the hip area with some snapping of the head. Originally the tango was performed only by woman but as it spread to Argentina that tango developed into the couple's dance. The Argentine tango is a very intimate dance other that the modern style tango.

The history of tango began in Buenos Aires, Argentina in the late 19th century. The dance started in the lower-class districts of Buenos Aires taking place in the periphery of the city, bars, cafes and courtyards. Then tango took the next step into more established Dancing Houses and later inside middle and high class Argentinian homes.The Tango is a mixture of dances peculiar to Blacks in Haiti, Cuba and Argentina.In 1907 the dance was introduced in France; by 1912 it crossed the channel to England. The dance was so popular in France and England that Tango teas became the rage. It was danced in the United States first by the Castles who elevated it to a dance accepted in any ballroom, by purifying it of its coarse associations and turning it into a thing of beauty. The Broadway show, Tango Argentino, helped to rekindle enthusiasm for this exciting, sensual dance.Tango is not as flowing as Foxtrot or Waltz; it has an intense staccato quality that makes it unique. It is a dance of stops yet it is also a smooth, fluid dance.
