Krav Maga is considered by many to be the most effective hand to hand combat system ever devised. Why? because it deals with how to deal with any attack in the fastest most effective way possible.

There are no rules for Krav Maga fighting. Techniques are focused around approximating real-life scenarios. There are no Kata's or Forms and instead deal with only effective ways to deal with a Violent encounter. This makes it extremely fast for anyone to learn Krav Maga quickly and be able to use the techniques with maximum effectiveness.

The main principles behind Krav Maga techniques are.

Employ the most effective fastest technique to incapacitate your opponent and avoid any further injury by getting out of there.

What Is Krav Maga?

Quick History Behind How Krav Maga Got Started

Krav Maga was developed in Hungary and Czechoslovakia in the 1930s by Imi Lichtenfeld. He first developed it as a means to help protect the Jews during the Second World War. Later Imi's methods were adopted by the Israeli militaryForce. Imi served in the IDF for 15 years, during which time he continued to develop and refine his hand-to-hand combat method. Today Krav Maga is still the standard unarmed combat method being used today in the Israeli military.

Imi's background was in wrestling, boxing, and weight lifting. Later when he developed Krav Maga with the assistance of others he would incorporate the best and most effective techniques from many of the martial arts, into a no-nonsense self defense system that could be taught quickly and effectively.

I have a deep understanding of Krav Maga as I've been training in it for the last 10 years, and this book lays out the techniques exactly as they should be done. The pictures are taken from great angles too and show really good progressions. If you want to learn Krava Maga and master its techniques then there is no better book.

You no longer have to travel to L.A. or the "Big Apple" to get a taste of the increasingly popular self defense and fitness method called Krav Maga. This new book gives you some valuable tips on how to protect yourself on today's mean streets from armed attackers. And its written by the late creator of the system and one of his students- who happens to be the head of one of the major Krav Maga organizations! I liked this book because of its no nonsense approach to personal protection- from safety in training to getting mentally tough. Other books I thought were in the same league are "The Close-Combat Files of Colonel Rex Applegate" by Applegate and Melson; "Krav Maga for Klutzes" by the Personal Shield Foundation; "U.S. Marines Close Combat Manual" from Paladin Press.

Why Krav Maga Is Such An Effective Self Defense System

Once You Master Krava Maga You Can Go Anywhere With Confidence

Krav Maga is such an effective self defense system because it strips away all the in-effective approaches to combat associated with learning a traditional martial arts system. There are no Kata's to learn, no forms no Dojo rules, instead Krav Maga Focuses on what works on the streets. It teaches practical no nonsense methods to help anyone regardless or size or sex deal with a violent attack on the streets.

Even MMA martial arts systems and grappling arts are designed today more for the ring then actually out in the streets. watch any UFC fight and you'll know what I mean. Sure you see these grapplers on the ground rolling around, trying for submission holds, but in the street these are rarely effective. Why because you will often have to deal with multiple opponents.

Take a guy down on the street and roll around on the ground while you try and get him in an armbar or a submission hold and very quickly you'll be dealing with stomps to your head from your attackers friends, not a good situation.

Instead Krav Maga helps teach you, how to deal with any threat in an effective manner and actually trains you for multiple attacking opponents, Something very few other martial systems ever even get into. That is why when you learn Krav Maga, you will be teaching yourself the best way to deal with any violent situation fast and effectively.

Yes, his accent takes some getting used to but the techniques go far beyond what's covered in the Lavine series. I also think that they are better illustrated & introduce the veiwer to the more combative aspects of Krav Maga as opposed to the glorified Tai Bo that seems to have become the norm. You're not going to be shown how to throw a punch in this video.

This martial arts course will arm you with more helpful knowledge than in any course out there!
The first night I popped the DVD in I was throwing punches like a pro and could take down anyone with a handstrike.

Give it to the ones you love to make sure they won't be victims!

Take Your Krav Maga Training to the Next Level

krav maga techniques
Advanced Krav Maga is a "No Rules" approach to those that may threaten your life is something that has helped me in quite a few situations, especially since I run a bar in New York City that can occasionally get rowdy. I have also learned how to restrain aggressive people in the most efficient & effective ways without doing any serious damage, but having the power and control to do so in a heartbeat if I felt my life was suddenly threatened. Being a former student of Praying Mantis Kung Fu & loving it, I feel that I have taken my martial arts training to the next level with David kahn's books. This book can definitely be used for fitness, but I find it's the most effective for those that may find themselves in dangerous situations.

    Nice lens!

I have trained some Krav Maga and I liked it a lot. really intense and unpredictable training, much more different than usual training in martial arts.

Is there any sport such as MMA in which Krav Maga martial artists compete?

Krav maga is a practical and very effective form of self defense. Cuts to the chase and takes care of the matter at hand very quickly. I've studied taekwondo and wish I'd learned this instead.

I've seen this style first hand and it seems to take the most brutal techniques from the best martial arts like muay thai, tae kwon do, wing chun and a few more and put it all together to just simply destroy opponents. Insane!
