The second set of tricks you can learn are a kind of mentalist type tricks. A mentalist is somebody that claims to have some kind of psychic powers, and project their thoughts into other people's minds. These tricks are pretty easy to learn, because they are based on some principles of human psychology and mathematics. They completely astound people, and you can even use all kinds of palm reading, tarot card reading and all kinds of other stuff in your routine. I saw this amazing performance once when I was younger. I'm not sure if it was at a birthday party or what, but it was a magician that did all these really cool tricks. The other night a friend of mine literally pulled me out of my apartment and dragged me to this club. I really hadn't intended on going out that night, and was just content to hang out at home and watch whatever was on TV. It's nice to get a nice like that, and escape from reality. But what I saw amazed me beyond comprehension.

When we showed up to where this place was, I simply followed her inside. I probably shouldn't have been so thoughtless, and in retrospect it may have been pretty dangerous, what I did. But nonetheless, next thing I know I was sitting in this plush, red leather chair. And for some strange reason, I didn't feel like moving, at all.

Then this really tall guy came out on this stage. For some reason I thought I was on the only one there, until I heard all these people clapping. It turns out I was at some kind of magic show, or a mentalist show. This guy started doing some pretty crafty illusions, but nothing that I hadn't seen on TV.

What happened next is when it started to get really weird. He started walking around the crowd and picking people at random. He would stop, look at somebody, and then tell them their whole life story. I was pretty sure this was set up, but then he walked up to me and did the same thing. So of course, I thought maybe my friends had given him my information, that it was all some big prank or something.

Then he did something really strange. He pulled people on stage, and had them start talking. He then would pick another person from the audience, and ask them a random question. Then he would ask the person on stage to answer the question. And before the person could answer, this magician would answer the question for them, exactly as they would have answered it.

The only reason I remember any of this is I had my cell phone recording the whole thing. But when I came home, it turns out all the language spoken that day was in the ancient language of Sumerian, which I've never studied. I had to hire an expert to translate it so I knew what transpired. Now how's that for a weird day?
