How To Use Photoshop's Grow Tool To Make Editing A Snap!

If you're like me, struggling to do a precise job of object selection to edit in Photoshop then this will be a welcome tips for your arsenal. While selecting objects in Photoshop does find its way into almost every task you choose to do in Photoshop, like copying, correcting color, special effects, maybe taking an object out of a photo for use elsewhere, then you already know that doing these kinds of tasks using only your mouse and selection tool can be next to impossible. There is another way, that saves your wrist and shaves lots of time off the task, and let me tell you about it!

Have you ever tried Photoshop's "grow" tool? This tool allows you to select an object within a photograph within quite precise results, and it makes the task ever so much more simple. This technique will save you loads of time, and in fact, the grow tool makes tasks that may have been practically impossible now quite doable.

Here's how it works. For example let's say you have an irregularly shaped object that you'd like to select for use in a photo collage. But it's such a tough shape that you just dread the time it will take you to even make a poor attempt at selecting it. Before you'd be left to increasing the size of the image, then attempt to slowly trace your cursor around the edge of the image until you'd grabbed it all. In all likelihood, you'd be off more than a little!

Instead, using Photoshop's grow tool, you can select that same image, and the grow tool expands the image to the area next to it that are similar in color. You don't have to be nearly as precise when selecting, as the grow tool will fill in the area for you, which you can then pare down later when you have it in place. Using the grow tool takes a lot of the worry about having to do things precisely and enables you to do editing tasks in Photoshop much ore quickly and efficiently.
