- Yes and I teach it along with a few other instruments.. I learnt it as my first instrument as a kid , from my father and then took further lessons at a music school. My family used to play music in parts whilst on holiday and it was great fun. The recorder is an excellent instrument to start and carry on with or start and move onto another instrument. And it is a very cheap instrument to buy and have a huge amount of fun making music.
