Smokin' Learn to Sing CD Courses!

Lots of people have learned how to sing key with this cool software. I use it myself and am amazed how it has helped me to pick notes out in songs more easily, sing on key and make songs easier to sing.

I lied! Even though my mother taught me better, I am not going to give you 5 tips like I said, but more like 7 or 8. Since I have already spent the money on several courses, here is what I learned that can help you avoid my mistakes and learn the fast way.

1. Cost does not matter that much. Sinatra had one day of singing lessons, then just performed on a street corner in Hoboken, NJ singing barbershop. There are only a few basic skills to learn in singing, plus lots of practice to do to master them. So avoid the $500 courses.

2. Practice early in the car or in the bathroom.This is why Learn to Sing CD's or downloadable courses are great. The shower loosens the voice so it is better than the car. No singing in the carpool!! I do not want you to lose your job before singing is paying the bills.

3. Start very slowly. Like working out a muscle, stretching vocal chords takes time. I gave it only 10 minutes every day until I could handle 15, then 20, etc. 30 minutes of singing practice is plenty! Eventually we would like to build up to about 90 miinutes, but of actual singing, not vocal exercises.

4. Even while you or I might already know the basics of singing, go over them again with the new course. Each learn to sing CD or course I tried had a different approach to learn. It built up a bunch of tools in my singing tool kit by learning from the beginning in each course.

5. By far, the most important key to learning with an online course or learn to sing CD is to set a performance date!!
One more time: SET A PERFORMANCE DATE!! By setting a performance date where we will perform in public or even in private, we will definitely push ourselves to practice every day. There is no cramming for learning to sing. Daily practice is best. This is the single biggest tip I can give. Find an old age home to perform at.Or if you already sing in your choir, then see if you can get a solo to put the pressure on. Or go to an open mic night, or even karaoke. Some way to get the pressure on to follow the singing course and show the improvement to the world.

6. Set milestones based on increasing your vocal range or pitch accuracy. Use a piano or one of the singing software tools. I have a pitch tuning software and it helps keep my ear in tune. Use a piano or even a favorite song to mark progress. I think checking progress every week to two weeks is ideal. Consider this the same type of progress meter someone trying to lose weight uses. Numbers make progress or lack of progress very clear.

7. Sing with friends while taking the course. This helps keep us on track if we have someone else to be accountable to. We also get swept up with earning a living and lose track of things we do for the joy of it. Singing is for the joy of it and having a friend around adds to the spirit of singing. Besides, you and your friend can then harmonize!

8. Go all the way through the course, then repeat it! I go through some of my courses several times because the techniques have not become second nature to me yet. For example, the transition from middle to high voice is still detectable to me and only more practice will cure that.
