Wanting to learn how to play the violin can be an exciting experience indeed! Do you know of songs like "Canon in D" (remember marriage songs?) and many other violin songs which you have wanted to play but couldn't?

Take a look at some of the videos by some of the very exciting players and these musics are just beautiful.

Is learning how to play the violin difficult?

Let me tell you this straight up. It can be difficult to catch on this music instrument, especially if you are an adult learner.

Let me explain exactly why this is difficult. I have been under a violin teacher for over 4 years for now and if your basics are wrong (which can be very easy to make a mistake in, because violin lessons do not teach everything, only what the teacher sees at the moment needs correcting), the rest of the positions that you learn in violin will be difficult to catch on.

Not only that, at the later stages, relearning and clearing such basic mistakes can be very difficult as your hands and positions are very used to holding the violin in a particular way (take note of how the violinists hold the violin) and can be hard to change.

Learning the basics right straight off the bat will give you a tremendous leap as it gives you a very strong foundation for learning advanced positions later on as you progress.

Not only that, it makes the entire experience enjoyable and even makes it fun as you spend a lot less time correcting and can add dynamics to the song to make it even more beautiful.

How can you start learning violin?

I heartly recommend starting off with a hand-made violin instead of a factory-made one(despite what others say). That is because your ear starts to adapt to the sound of the violin as you learn. Factory-made violins do not have a good sound quality at all, in fact, can ruin your ear for making good music later on.

Some of these hand-made violins are not expensive at all, ranging from $200 to $300 whilst factory made violins costs $150. Make a small investment of just over $50 more for making your songs sound even better and better your hearing ear.

I also heartly recommend this video course by Eric Lewis who is absolutely fantastic at his violin playing. He is part of the Manhattan String Quartet, which is critically acclaimed by Michael Steinberg of the Boston Globe as "a national treasure". They have also done performances internationally and they are just fantastic. Get a course that teaches you violin easily and effortlessly!

The methods he teaches are really fantastic because it is the right way to hold the violin, press properly on the right positions and play beautifully with expression.

Not only that, with the video courses that he had provided, I was also able to see clearly and exactly what he did and I could even repeat certain parts of the courses I found confusing until I got it.

Meditation from Thais

This music is really beautiful. Just look at how elegantly the woman is playing the instrument. Her bowing and holding of the instrument is so light and beautiful.

Not only that, her expression of the music is very soft, smooth and elegant.

Additional music information

Another product I recommend is also this course by Ryan Cameron which teaches you how to listen to music by their pitches and it has been absolutely fantastic and useful for me.

Playing violin required me to hear the music and tones perfectly as violin does not have any gaps and this course has improved by listening greatly.

Knowing all the right tones simply allowed me to play freely and expressively on my violin ad also add even more dynamics to make it sound so much better. That is so true when I was playing Meditation from Thais myself on my violin, all the correct tones had to be captured for the feeling of the music to come out. Get a course that teach you step by step guided to listen to pitches perfectly!
