How Can You Build a Squidoo Lens that will Generate Web Traffic?
I recently joined Squidoo although I've been writing articles online since 2007. I had been freelance writing for several newspapers in my state and wanted to see what the opportunities were for publishing my own articles online. Since 2007, I've used several Web sites and blogs for publication and decided it was past time for me to get involved with publishing on Squidoo.
Of course, with anything new, there's learning involved. Are you new to Squidoo as well? Are you wondering how to make a great lens that will attract readers and earn money for you? If you want to make money on Squidoo or just grow your readership base, this lens will help you. I've culled the best tips from some of the best work on Squidoo and put it here to help and guide you in your efforts.
This will take you from how to create an easy Squidoo lens to strategies to generate web traffic to your pages. Read on for tips and methods along with links to great resources on Squidoo.

Getting Started
Let's create your first lens. Think about how you name your lens by getting ideas of how someone would Google your topic. Use those search word phrases that you'd type into Google and Google will reward you by helping others find you. Add in a few tags (you'll add more later) and your lens structure is now ready to go.
Add Modules
Your basic framework is in place but now you need to add parts. To make money with a Squidoo lens, you're going to want to add the Amazon and the eBay modules as they are how most people on Squidoo make money. When people buy through these links, we share in the profit with Squidoo. That's a winning formula!
I also recommend adding the Featured Lenses module and the Link List.

Get an Intro Picture
After all of the modules are in place, I then go and find a picture to add to the intro. There are several sites online where you can download royalty-free photographs or you can use your own. Do not post the copyrighted work of others. This is illegal and uncool.
Link. Link. Link.
Everything on the Web depends on links to rank its importance and interest level with online audiences. If people are linking to an article, a search engine sees that as a good sign, a nod, a greenlight, or a flashing strobe light that proclaims, hey, this is good stuff. No one links to crap, so keep that in mind as you build your Squidoo lens.
You've added the featured lenses, now use it: if you have other similar lenses that would be useful to readers of this lens, add the link here. You can also find lenses of other Squidoo lensmasters to add to your list of featured lenses. You'll make them happy by highlighting their work. It's a kind thing to do and it makes your lens better.
Fill up the five possible slots and give it a good title.

Link to Web Sites
Now you're ready to add links to other Web sites outside of Squidoo. Maybe you have a relevant blog you can link to or know of other blogs on the subject that would be really helpful to your readers. Also, don't forget about pertinent videos on YouTube that can be easily and quickly added to your lens. Everything you add for your readers will help round out your lens.

- You've hit on the key points: build a lens worth reading, and then let everyone know about it.
What I like about this lens is that it's concise: you don't add a lot of distracting gibberish just to get more words on the page. My college public speaking instructor used to say "tell them what you're going to say, say it, tell them what you said, and then sit down". She would give you an "A".
