I noticed you didn't have any jigsaw puzzles on your list - probably because most are too difficult for this age and wood ones are hard to find. But, one wooden one that is good for this age is the "First Jigsaw Puzzle - Square" by Young Minds At Play (www.youngmindsatplay.com). It is a great starter jigsaw puzzle because it has interchangeable pieces so any two pieces will connect, eliminating most of the frustration babies/toddlers have. It also won two Dr. Toy awards this year.

I love wooden puzzles. We used both the racks you show above and many many wooden puzzles. Other little-kid toys have been passed on to Goodwill, but not those. They're timeless and will be perfect for grandchildren someday. 5*****

Wooden puzzles are fantastic for toddlers, ours were Thomas the Tank Engine but that's a good few years ago. 5* and a sprinkling of Angel Dust

My kids always had wooden puzzles. They loved the size of the pieces and the vibrant colors and they always lasted so much longer than other puzzles. Great tips!

I love Melissa and Doug puzzles. This lens is so happy looking. I love it. Great work. My grandson enjoyed playing with the puzzles that my son had when he was a boy.

Absolutely agree! I bought loads of wooden puzzles for my daughter when she was a babe. To this day she has high visual spatial abilities. I think it all goes back to those early pegged puzzles! In fact, we bought a jigsaw puzzle just today. 1000 pieces all scattered on the coffee table. That should take us quite a while to solve.

Where would we be w/out Melissa & Doug to provide us with wooden puzzles!? Love them at home & at school :) Have you tried the puzzle with the locks yet? Very tricky indeed...
