1. One of the best reasons to learn the Italian language is that if you ever encounter Italian folks or go to Italy you will be sure to find locals that don't speak Italian. What better way to interact with locals, then to learn the language your self? That way you'll never be stuck in ordering food, getting bus tickets or understanding what they're saying to you.
2. The next reason to learn to speak Italian is that it's polite. If you ever visit the country then it's only fair that you make an effort to learning their language. This make the locals appreciate you and effort to speak the language. You don't have to be perfect, but at least they'll see you've made and effort.
3. Another great reason why to learn Italian is so you can increase your employment potential. With today's global markets and business, if ever a position comes up that requires to know Italian you'd be the prime candidate.
4. These days, certain schools require another language to participate in higher education. It may be beneficial to those who want to pursue further schools, go to school in Italy or even converse with Italian student that are within the same course.
With those points in mind. you should always try and learn the basics such as are greetings, good morning, good evening, good bye, please, thank you, and then other necessities such as where is the bathroom, do you speak English, etc.
Why learn Italian? Well another reason is that it's relatively easy compared to the English language. However if you don't want to learn it comprehensively, the basics will suffice. If you learn the basics at least you can always get assistance.
