BBC Spanish is probably the best free way to learn Spanish out there.

In fact, from what I found, it's actually better than most paid software applications!

Study Spanish is another great free Spanish language course. Let's take a look.

On the main website you have options to choose your level: Beginner, intermediate or advanced.

Since you're reading this I suppose you're on beginner level, so we are going to take a look at that.



As you can see on the left, you have "Help for students" section where you can get LOTS of information if you're a beginner.



The Spanish grammar part is full of tips and tricks on all the aspects of the grammar.



The Spanish pronunciation part is GREAT because you can practice every vowel and consonant in the language. You'll learn how Spanish speakers pronounce those strange sounds so you can do it too.

If you go to Study Spanish website, you will also find "Word of the day" section as well as podcast list. Crazy stuff!

Spanish Pod is a great website where you can find free podcasts to learn Spanish. In order to see them, you have to register (the process takes less than a minute, no email verification or anything).

Speaking in general terms, free Spanish online resources are divided into 2 categories:

1. Step-by-step programs
2. References

Most Spanish learning websites are references, meaning they don't offer you step-by-step instructions on how to learn Spanish (or they do, but you have to pay in order to access them).

Step-by-step programs are by far the best method I know of to learn Spanish for free. The ONLY resource I know of that's step-by-step program is BBC Spanish. That's why I put first.

Don't get me wrong, references are VERY USEFUL if you want to IMPROVE your Spanish.

However, if you have no foundation and want to start learning Spanish for free, then start with BBC Spanish.
