Learn to Speak Chinese

Chinese is a beautiful language. One you are able to speak it fluently, or at least close to fluently, you will achieve a feeling of satisfaction the likes of which you have never experienced in your life.

The symbols alone can keep one intrigued for years. There is probably no language in the world, with the possible exception of Hebrew, that is quite as fascinating. If you want to learn this wonderful language this lens will show you a few things that you need to know before starting out.

For starters, unlike a lot of simpler languages like German, French and Italian, Chinese has a complexity to it that really requires some solid instruction. You could get a hold of a so-so course on just about any other language and get through it pretty much okay, but with Chinese, this is not the case. A substandard course will leave you frustrated, not knowing much more than what you started out knowing.

Many people feel Chinese is a hard language to learn is because of the characters. We're not talking plain Arabic script here. Chinese characters are quite unusual to say the least - easily rivaling Hebrew for its complexity and uniqueness. But like with any other symbolic language (let's face it, even the letters A-Z are symbols) these symbols can be learned and it doesn't have to take you an eternity to learn them.

How Much Is College to Learn Chinese?

Of course it can be difficult to say how much a course to learn Chinese at College is as it depends on many factors especially your location (are you in China or the US or somewhere else).

It also is dependant on how quickly that you can pick it up (many people say Mandarin Chinese is one of the hardest languages to learn). And whether you want to be fluent, or just know enough words to get you by while travelling.

But to give you some idea, in an average US College which includes a single room for 4 weeks in an International Student Dorm is around $1300 which includes approximately $50 registration fee, $700 in accommodation expensese and $500-$600 in tuition fees.

Rocket Chinese Review

So you'd like to learn Chinese? If you have been doing your research online you are probably trying to find the best course that will teach you Chinese. This review is for Rocket Chinese and I am sure you will find it helpful.

The company, Rocket Languages that has created Rocket Chinese is well known for creating high quality comprehensive language courses. They also have courses for French, German, Spanish and many more. I actually think they create the best language courses online and I'm sure I could end this review right now and tell you how pleased you would be with it, but to be fair I'm sure you'd like to know a little more about what you get with the course.

What the Rocket Chinese course includes

Each of the 31 interactive audio lessons takes you through the Chinese language step by step with each lesson building on the first. Listening to the audio lessons is a great way to learn languages as you can hear how the words are spoken rather than just read them in a book. The lessons are easy to follow and even a beginner could learn Chinese with this course.

What sets Rocket Chinese apart from many other courses online is that the lessons also include grammar and culture lessons which are important for learning the language in the context of how others actually use and speak it, rather than just learning random words and sentences that may not flow well in regular conversation.

The package also comes with a software learning game which adds to your lessons and provides a fun way to help learn. Although I did spend way too much time on the game and not enough on my lessons - it is really fun to play!

Other Member Benefits

Apart from the lessons and games members also get access to the forum and support area which is wonderful for asking questions of teachers or other students, or just saying hi to others who are learning just like you are.

The fact that you can get any questions or support answered 24 hours a day is worth the price of the course alone.

There are many other features of this course that I haven't even gone into but I'm sure you are able to read the sales page and find out what else is included.

Worth the money?

If you consider the lessons, software, support and more that you get with this course it is a really great price. If you went to a private college or university to learn Chinese you'd be looking at a few thousands dollars so when you look at it in that context you'll realize what tremendous value this course is.

This course is 100% professional and is, in my opinion, the best Chinese language course online. You can get more info at:
