You have never seen anything more beautiful than the changing of the season in my home state of Ohio! 

Scarlet, oranges, and yellow hues signal that it's time to batton down the hatches for the impending onslaught of winter!  It's a time of hot cider, and warm, glowing candlelight...

Fall craft festivals are a great source of inspiration for fresh fall decor... I don't want my "stuff" to look like everyone else's, so I make it myself!

I've relocated to Phoenix since I made the collection you see in this lens;  so I'm adding some southwestern flavor to my designs...it's going to be a lot of fun!
Isn't she adorable?

If you want to use her as an accent for your house all year long; she can easily be made as a regular doll instead of a scarecrow! Just use wooden balls to create her hands instead of using the raffia.

Yup, you guessed it, I'm a country girl at heart!
Let me clarify, I'm a MODERN country girl at heart...
no more outhouses for this country bumpkin!

Gone are the days of rag dolls and corn husk hair, I much prefer raffia and finely woven fabrics. It seems like another lifetime, but I DO remember the days when dolls were made from strips of corn husk!

I still enjoy saving my remnants of fabric, though. I find it impossible to discard those little fragments of fabric that most folks throw away. As you can see, a little snip of this and a little snip of that... and you have a beautifully crafted, designer scarecrow doll!

I use styrofoam balls to create the heads of many of my dolls and puppet crafts. They provide a solid foundation and good support for the hats, glasses and various embellishments that are part of designing these sweet little faces.

I use a variety of sizes, but the 2" - 3" are the most common... I like to keep plenty on hand so I can craft whenever I get the creative urge to do so. I encourage you to keep your crafty stash filled to overflowing so that you too, will be able to create at a moments notice!
