Lebron James - Money It's More Than The Shoes

Lebron Raymone James was born December 30, 1984 in Akron Ohio. He is currently playing for the Cleveland Cavaliers in the National Basketball Association.

Before selling boatloads of Lebron James jerseys and shoes, LBJ played his high school basketball at St. Vincent - St. Mary in Ohio. He was highly touted as an underclassman and was a first team All American player in many publications as a high school sophomore.

After declaring for the NBA draft as a senior in high school he was taken as the first pick by his home state Cavaliers in 2003.

Lebron James is one of the elite players in the league along with Kobe Bryant and Dwayne Wade. His combination of smarts, skills, and athleticism make him an unstoppable triple threat.

He has often been compared to both Magic Johnson and Michael Jordan. He has tremendous passing ability. Unlike many star players he is extremely unselfish and tends to look for the open man first.

Lebron James is the prototypical point forward. At 6'9 and 280 pounds he has the size of a power forward but the skills of a point guard so the offense runs through him. LBJ23 has unique abilities which I have yet to see in my 30 plus years of being a basketball fan.

The King And I

ABCD Camp 2001

I first saw Lebron when he was playing at a major high school shoe camp. He was pitted against the top senior in the country at that time, Lenny Cooke at the Adidas ABCD Camp in 2001.

The game was a classic mano-a-mano affair. All the other games had ended for the day so all players, college coaches, and fans crowded around the court for their chance to see 2 elite players go head to head.

Lebron put on a show with a series of no-look passes and scoring moves. He finished the game with one of his patented two dribble past halcourt jump shots which elevated his team to victory. Anybody who has watched the 2009 play-off's know the move that I am talking about.

Lebron cemented his status as the best player in high school and he also made himself a top lottery pick with that performance. I feel very fortunate to have been there the day that he was made king.

Lebron James $90 Million Shoe Contract With Nike

After Lebron James declared for the NBA draft an intense bidding war ensued between Nike, Reebok and Adidas.

Lebron eventually signed a $90 million shoe contract with Nike. Both the dollar amount and the fact that he signed even before the draft lottery were both unprecedented.
